Kick The Box

May 19th Edition

This week during my normal Kickstarter routine of game searching, so you don’t have to, I’ve stumbled upon several unique games. The Lords of Ice Garden looks like it could be a Game of Thrones type of board game. I’m not totally sure, but I think if your a fan of GoT, than you might want to check that out. The new Expansion for 12 Realms is now live on Kickstarter. You can read more about it below and be sure to check out, both my preview of the expansion and Ben Gerber’s Indie Talks with Alex from MAGE Company. Evolution and Frankenstein’s Bodies round out this week’s picks.

Kickstarter News: Design Your Own Deck Box! is fully funded with time still left to jump in! Black Forest, even though was halfway to their funding level, has suspended their Kickstarter campaign for the time being to get some reviews in and figure out EU shipping/fulfillment. AVGhost has also suspended their Kickstarter campaign til further notice.

12 Realms: Ancestors Legacy Expansion

Project By: MAGE Company

The expansion for 12 Realms, Ancestors Legacy is now live on Kickstarter. Join the Fairy Tale Heroes of Fairy Land in their fight against the increasing invasion of minions and their Dark Lord.

The expansion adds four new realms, several more Heroes to choose from, and a new element, plots, that will add a variety of different gameplay mechanics to the base game.

I was fortunate enough to receive a prototype of Ancestors Legacy. You can find all of my thoughts about it here, and our own Ben Gerber got a chance to have a chat about Ancestors Legacy, tabletop gaming in Greece, and more with Alexander Argyropoulos of the MAGE Company in Episode 48 of  Indie Talks, which can be found here.

Shipping is listed in the pledge levels.

The Lords of the Ice Garden

Project By: Krzystof Wolicki REDIMP

The record setting crowd funding game in Poland, The Lords of the Ice Garden, is now ready to leave the shores of Poland and make it’s waystate side and abroad.

TLotIG is a 2-4 player strategic board game, set in the world of Midgaard. It is  filled with human-like beings able to control magic. The culture and technology of these beings resemble the time of Vikings of our own world.  This is disrupted when scientists from Earth arive in Midgaard. Their discovery of magic, coupled with their scientific knowledge, changes their views. They are consumed with a power hungry need to make Midgaard a “better place”, even if it means sacrificing everyone and everything, but themselves to achieve it.

Players will step into the role of these scientists with the goal to control as many regions as possible, scoring victory points along the way. As usual, he/she with the most points wins.

Project is EU friendly for shipping. Shipping to the states is included. All other shipping needs are listed at the bottom of their Kickstarter page.

Evolution

Project By: North Star Games

North Star Games, known for their party games, Wits & Wagers, Say Anything, and others,  has joined the Kickstarter community in an attempt to realize their first strategy game, Evolution. They are already almost 700% funded with a little less than four weeks left in their campaign.

In this new strategy game for 2-5 players, players will be able to create, adapt, and evolve their species. Using a set amount of cards per round, players will determine the food supply at the waterhole, increase their species size and population, or evolve their species with new attributes for their survival needs.

In it’s short time on Kickstarter it has already grossed over $60,000 of their $10,000 funding goal. Three stretch goals have already been unlocked, including better quality player boards, a vote what their first expansion will consist of, and Evolution themed coasters.

Shipping within US included. Add $20 for shipping outside the US.

Frankenstein’s Bodies

Project By: Andrew Harmon

Finally! A game for us sick and twisted!

Players are  surgeons in Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory trying to impress Dr. Frankenstein, himself. Players will take turns piecing body parts together on their two laboratory tables. There are male and female body parts, along with different color reanimation serums. Grab parts you need from the available parts cards, or steal your opponents! But, be careful, as they plan to do the same to you!

Bodies with matching gender parts and serum color scores the most points.

The game ends when someone pieces together two complete bodies, or the parts deck has been ran through twice. Tally up the victory points, and whoever has the most, wins!

As always, I am appreciative of anyone who takes the time to stop by to read my ramblings and I thank you.
