Sariska Tiger Reserve Travel Guide



Sariska National Park covers an area of around 800 sqm - it is one of the most visited national parks of the Alwar district. The tiger reserve is located 107 kilometers from Jaipur and around 37 kilometers away from Alwar. The Aravali Hills make a beautiful backdrop for the Tiger Reserve - the area has separate sections of steep cliffs, Rocky Mountains, and deciduous forests. During the rule of Chauhan Dynasty, the Tiger Reserve used to serve as the hunting ground of the Royal Family during the 18th and the 19th century.

Housing inside the Sariska National Park are the ruins of temples of Garh-Rajor, the temples date back to the 18th century. The tiger reserve is famous for its Bengal Tigers, also you can see wild lives like Hanuman Langoor, Striped Hyena, Leopard, Jungle Cat and more. Bird-Watchers have the opportunity to see some rare species like Sand Grouse, Peafowl, Grey Partridge and others. Sariska achieved the position of a national park 1979 and since then it has developed, developed and developed. Today, it is one of the most visit national parks in India.

The Kankwari Fort

The Kankwari Fort is standing tall atop a hill offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The fort dates back to the 17th century, still today you can see some amazing wall paintings adorning the walls of the beautiful fort. It is said that Aurangzeb imprisoned his brother Dara Shikoh at the Kankwari Fort.

The Sariska Palace

The Sariska Palace was built by the rulers of Alwar and used by them for their comfort and luxury during their hunting sessions. Ancient Shiva Temples

Siliserh Lake

Siliserh Lake is a beautiful lake, in the northeastern part of Rajasthan. The lake has a beautiful palace, built by the maharaja for his darling wife. The lake is generally used as a stopover point by people traveling towards the Sariska Tiger Reserve. From the lake you can make way to Ajabgarh, Tijara and Vijay Mandir Palace.
