VANCOUVER, BC—(Marketwired – April 05, 2016) – Charles E. Ray Jr., M.D., Ph.D., FSIR, an interventional radiologist, and professor and head of the department of radiology at the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, assumed the office of president of the Society of Interventional Radiology during the society's Annual Scientific Meeting in Vancouver.

“The main focus of my presidency will be cultivating the next generation of interventional radiologists, particularly as we enter the first year of the new interventional radiology residency,” said Ray, who will represent the society's more than 6,100 doctors, scientists and allied health professionals dedicated to improving health care through image–guided minimally invasive treatments. “I will encourage interventional radiologists to demonstrate the limitless potential of this field through our unique skills, collaborative opportunities and sharp focus on patient care.”
