Includes two flagship daily newspapers The Capital and the Carroll County Times
The Baltimore Sun Media Group (BSMG) today announced its purchase of Capital-Gazette Communications and Landmark Community Newspapers of Maryland from Landmark Media Enterprises, LLC.
The acquisition affects only Landmark publications in Maryland, which in the Annapolis region include the daily newspaper, The Capital, and related publications, Maryland Gazette, Crofton-West County Gazette, Bowie Blade-News, Capital Style Magazine, Anne Arundel County Guidebook and CapitalGazette.com. In Carroll County, the acquisition includes the daily newspaper, Carroll County Times, and related publications that include Community Times, Carroll Living, Central Maryland Homes, three Advocate newspapers, three Purchasing Power papers, Mason-Dixon Marketplace and Shopper and CarrollCountyTimes.com.

Landmark Media Enterprises, LLC has owned the Carroll County Times since purchasing it as a twice weekly paper in 1974. In 1987 it became a successful seven-day-a-week paper.
Landmark was a minority partner of Capital-Gazette Communications, LLC with the Merrill family beginning in 1968. It obtained full ownership of the newspapers in 2007.
BSMG publishes The Baltimore Sun and baltimoresun.com as well as b free weekly, the City Paper and other community papers including The Aegis, APG News, Arbutus Times, Baltimore Messenger, Carroll Eagle, Catonsville Times, Columbia Flier, Howard County Times, The Jeffersonian, Laurel Leader, North County News, Northeast Booster/Reporter, Owings Mills Times, The Record, Soundoff!, Towson Times, and the Weekender. BSMG also publishes magazines including Chesapeake Home + Living, Guide to Howard County, Harford Magazine, Howard Magazine and Maryland Family Magazine.
