I am in love with this day!  It was perfect.  We slept in a little, had a lazy breakfast and then headed down to the beach.

The sand on this beach was the softest sand I've ever felt.  It really didn't even feel like sand, it was more like baby powder.  It felt incredible!  And of course you get an up front and personal view of the cliffs that dominate this part of the island.

We booked a tour to see the whales, dolphins and cliffs.

Heading out of the harbor.

A view of Los Gigantes.

Carley's been learning to master her shoe tying skills.

Tenerife's volcano.

Finally we spotted a pod of whales!  These are pilot whales.  They live in these waters all year round.  They were neat to see because they floated on the surface for a long time before going under.  It was almost as if they were sunning themselves, soaking up the warmth of the sun's rays.

This is a baby & mom.  We watched them swim together for quite a while.

The guide didn't think we'd see any dolphins today because they hadn't been around for a while, but we got lucky!  We even saw one play in the wake from our boat.  This was a highlight!

The cliffs were really beautiful and strange at the same time.  The strata of the cliffs is extremely interesting to look at.  You can see the layers bend and turn.  The colors are obvious and the cliffs reach a height of 2625 ft above sea level in some places...MASSIVE!

On the way back to Los Gigantes, the guide on the boat started feeding the gulls.

Back on the island...time to hit the beach.  We spent the remainder of the day happily lazing and playing around on the beach.  The weather was hot and perfect.

After we'd had our fill of the sun and sand, we swam for a bit in the hotel pool.  When we were finally able to pull our little fish out of the water, we showered and went in search of dinner.  We found the cutest little place called CKs Bistro.  Everything they make is homemade, fresh while you wait.  We were early for dinner and the kids wanted alfredo, it wasn't on the menu, but the chef came out and asked Luke how he wanted the sauce made and he made it.  Trent and I had a traditional Sunday pot roast, potatoes, vegetables and bread...delicious!  The mother and I chatted for a while and I found myself wishing I could get to know her better.  She was wonderful.

Best Day In A Very, Very Long Time!!
