“Somewhere in Time”

An amazing, touching love story.

“Somewhere In Time’, a love story, and not a “chick flick” movie, was released in 1980 staring Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeve, and was based on this best-selling book by Richard Matheson.

Young playwright Richard Collier has an encounter with a mysterious old woman on the opening night of his earliest success; she entreats him, to his bewilderment, to “come back to me.” Several years later, with his life and career in disarray, he seeks quiet and contemplation and checks in to a storied hotel from his youth. But his stay at the hotel turns into the journey of a lifetime as he unravels history—and time—to discover a powerful but perhaps impossible love.

“Somewhere in Time” is a romantic classic, beloved by several generations of movie goers. This world premiere musical invites those who love the story to enjoy its beauty.

A man gives up his present life to go back in the past to find his lost true love.

If you’ve ever wondered about time travel, and enjoy a good tear jerker every now and then, do yourself a favor and watch this movie.

Elise McKenna: The man of my dreams has almost faded now. The one I have created in my mind. The sort of man each woman dreams of, in the deepest and most secret reaches of her heart. I can almost see him now before me. “What would I say to him if he were really here? “Forgive me. I have never known this feeling. I have lived without it all my life. Is it any wonder, then, I failed to recognize you? You, who brought it to me for the first time. Is there any way that I can tell you how my life has changed? Any way at all to let you know what sweetness you have given me? There is so much to say. I cannot find the words. Except for these: I love you”. This is what i would say to him, if he were really here.

Richard Collier (Christopher Reeves) is about to begin an incredible journey into another realm , another lifetime, in search of the love he could never find in this one.

Someday in the past he finds her………

from IMDb

A haunting story of the link between the man . A link that goes beyond fantasy, beyond time itself.

Play was performed in 1912 by Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour)

A unabashedly romantic film, a playwright obsessed with a picture of an early 1900s actress wills himself back in time to find the woman, and the two begin a love affair. But what does living in the past mean for their future?

Now a lot of you are sitting there trying to figure out what this movie is. Well, this is a movie from 1980 called Somewhere in Time starring the late Christopher Reeve (Superman) and Jane Seymour. The movie is about a man who goes to a hotel and find a portrait of a beautiful woman. He asks the hotel manager about her and it was found that she lived in the town and frequented the hotel many times, but she lived almost 100 years in the past. So, Christopher Reeve sort of does a time travel thing by removing everything current from his room and setting it up so it looks like the time period, he even dresses the part. Through this action he is able to go into the past and find his dream woman and was able to make her fall in love with him. Unfortunately, events occur and he winds up in the present and is unable to get back to her. He eventually dies of loneliness not being able to see his love again. I choose this movie because it is not the normal love story and the idea is quite fantastic.

“Somewhere In Time”

Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

1987

Once again, John Barry and his work that will live forever. I dont know why this movie wasnt included in some of Chris Reeves best work. The lovely Jane Seymour. What can you say. She is beautiful in all that she does. It is worth nothing that in later years this film became very popular and is considered a classic of sorts. Love romance movies…….this is one of the best.

Reeve plays Richard Collier, a playwright who becomes smitten by a photograph of a young woman at the Grand Hotel. Through self-hypnosis, he travels back in time to the year 1912 to find love with actress Elise McKenna (portrayed by Seymour). But her manager William Fawcett Robinson (portrayed by Plummer) fears that romance will derail her career and resolves to stop him.

The film is known for its musical score composed by John Barry. The eighteenth variation of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini also runs throughout the film.

Somewhere in Time is a 1980 romantic science fiction film directed by Jeannot Szwarc. It is a film adaptation of the 1975 novel Bid Time Return by Richard Matheson, who also wrote the screenplay. Wikipedia
