Today was voting day and we had hoped to be able to place early votes while in Bourke or Lightning Ridge. However, because we are interstaters, we had to vote at an AEC office in a major centre. This meant that we had to drive to Dubbo, 1.5hours drive away.
After doing our duty, we spent the rest of the day at the very impressive Taronga Western Plains Zoo. This is a 300hectare open range sanctuary and you can either drive the circuit in your own car, hire bikes or hire 6-person electric carts. There is a lot to see, all the animals look well cared for with quite a few new additions having been born this year and we almost run out of time to finish the circuit.
