Advanced open water diver - Ko Tao, Thailand

Ko Tao, Thailand

Got up around 8am, had a shower and read my book. Picked up my laundry and went to collect my ID from the hostel I spent my final night in a couple of days before but had forgotten to pay. The ID I use is an expired Guernsey provisional motorbike license. Had two eggs, two toast and two slices of bacon for breakfast then went to the dive shop to wait for my two afternoon dives. Sara turned up as her boat wasn't leaving until 2pm and we chatted with various dive people at the shop and I left at about 1.30pm for the dive. The sea had been flat calm before today but now the open water was full of white horses and big rollers, fortunately I don't get seasick but the same could not be said for everyone on the boat... We moved locations a couple of times to find a suitable area where the two girls doing the first of their dives would be comfortable but eventually their instructor decided it was not suitable conditions so they had to sit on the boat while we went diving. Did two short dives (only me and Katie the instructor were diving) and covered navigation and peak buoyancy performance then returned to the boat and headed back to land. Back at the dive shop I paid the 7,650 baht (plus 600 baht for the extra night's accommodation) I owed them) and filled in my dive log and the advanced certificate paperwork. Va Ended up going out for food (a massive plate of carbonara and cheesy bacon fries) and margaritas with Che, Katie, Hannah and Thanda) from the dive school, which turned into a solid session down at Lotus bar until 2 or 3 am. Then bed.
