We had found a real good deal on the net, booked for two nights in the Chaweng Chalet resort with rooms right up to the beach and a little restaurant in front of them where you can hang out and have dinner on the beach in the evening, really great. They came to get us at the airport and we liked it that much that we negotiated a good price to stay until the 26th. 10th A fantastic day at the beach, lots of sun bathing, swimming and walking on the sand. In the evening dinner on the beach in front if our resort and after that some strolling along the shops, café's and restaurants. 11th. Today the weather was slightly clouded but in fact real nice to lie on the beach and read. At around 5 PM the foreseen rain arrived and man did it ! A real curtain of it with some interruptions in which we managed to walk out and have dinner at Ranong a small restaurant with lots of Thai people, so good and cheap. After that a cup of coffee and tea at a small café and back before the rain started again which went on all night. 12th Today was basically a copy of yesterday, so as long as there's rain only at the end of the day and night than that's perfect ! My mother called me on Facetime, quite easy here as there's wifi everywhere in this resort. In the evening we had dinner at our restaurant, cozy and with a beautiful view. 13th Beach day, walking and playing in the water. In the evening dinner at another small place with girls from Myanmar working there. Coffee at the coffee club, good cappuccino, 14th A beautiful day, we rented a motorbike and drove to the south stopping at different beaches , first Chaweng Noi, than Lamai, Bang Kao, which we remembered well, 'cause there's a poor little monkey. We had a great banana shake there. Then we had lunch at I-Talay (Nasai Garden) (see video) and than we arrived at Niki Beach which is a amazing place like the other Niki Beaches in for instance Cannes, Marbella, Ibiza, San Tropez, Toronto etc. (see video) so we just hang out, had a swim and had a drink and lay and dreamed on the beautiful white mattresses that we were rich and could stay and take a room here (€ 1200 a night). We had a great time and left around 5 PM as we had around an hour and a half of driving back. We came back with a sore bum but satisfied and went to have dinner at our nice and cheap Thai restaurant. Later in the evening before going to sleep we were able to speak with Renato, Corinne and Zoë via Facetime, everyone was ok, though at the end of the year my brother had a lot of work pressure. It was great to talk to them. After that we spoke to Fré, Katleen and Ayko, Katleen's tommy is really starting to show and she has been calculated to give birth exactly on the day we come back, the 17rh of March. We've been gone more than a month now and starting to miss our family and friends ! Love you guys !!! 15th Today we took the motorbike and went North instead, we passed and visited the peninsula with the big Buddha and kept going till we found the old fisherman's village which is really beautiful and restored with little boutiques, café's and restaurants. We stayed for a while, off course had to buy a little this and that and had a drink. Than we carried on and followed the coastline. We found out that after the fisherman's village the road was rather boring and more a business road and the south road is a lot nicer with better views. So we carried on and ended up where we stopped yesterday and had lunch at I-Talay and stayed there the afternoon at the beach, lovely !! At around 5 P.M. we left to get back and arrived around 6:20 at our hotel. Another nice day !! 16th I felt pretty energetic this morning and after breakfast went to a sports club I spotted before while Andrea did her usual laps of swimming and running on the beach. Tired but feeling real good I came back to the beach where we stayed and had lunch and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon. When we returned to our room my mother facetimed us, so that was nice and than after our shower we went for dinner. 17th and 18th Nothing special really, did some sunbathing, swimming, shopping etc. Today Wednesday it was rather cloudy which actually was rather nice for a change so we staid in bed a bit longer and than read a lot and walked around a bit and went to the sports club. We got a card from Mariette and Berry which is funny and Monday we've sent a card to my mum via Greetz in Holland which than transfers it via the regular post. I hope it arrives. I have put Asia & Remco and the kids' card and a card from Buddy and Monica in the blog as well. .19th and 20th The water was extremely high these 2 days and came up almost to the stairs of the restaurant, so it was quite funny to lay on our beach beds and get wet by the waves ones in a while. Met a few new people, some of them interesting. Like a young English professional soldier just finished a round of 7 months in Afghanistan and having a few weeks holiday before flying home. He told me about a few pretty intense situations he had been in like a guy asking for some water and than getting into his car and driving straight into a group of soldiers and blowing himself up with his car full of explosives. What a world !!! 21st. We took a bike again and drove slowly with several stops direction Niki's beach on the opposite side of the island. We enjoyed the views on the way and had lunch at Bang Kao with their fantastic banana shake (the best) and their little monkey. We met a real nice Italian couple Silla and Lorenzo with their two boys Dario and Davide. They asked us if we knew some nice beaches and places so we told them we were on our way to one, Niki's beach. They followed us and we had a nice drink and chat together and enjoyed this beautiful place together. They are staying near the Old fisherman's village but we exchanged info so we could use Whatsapp to stay in contact. We got back around 6:30, we found a bakery on the way back with small baguette's and bought some cheese, so we actually could make a cheese sandwich, mmm great, funny how you can enjoy something like that when it's hard to find !
