A taste of luxury in Oaxaca - Oaxaca, Mexico

Oaxaca, Mexico

Today while I was out for lunch with Ann, Brody and Michael, we could hear loud music approaching. Brody and I went to the balcony to go see what it was. A parade was making its way down the main stretch of downtown Oaxaca, and it sure looks like fun :) Tomorrow is Mexican Independence Day, and there are festivities all weekend and Monday. Although, I'm not sure whether or not this parade was for a wedding, or what? Either way, it was great to see and has me looking forward to tomorrow! :) I picked up 280 pesos worth of food to make breakfast and lunch for a week or so, in hopes of saving mucho dineros. I went back to the hostel after shocking the cashier with a 500 pesos bill (mistake noted, get smaller bills) to workout, and my friend Pamela and her boyfriend picked me up to go visit my good friend Tania. She was driving an Audi A6. Very uncommon in Oaxaca as you can imagine. We went to a house party...I mean Mansion party. Honestly, the nicest house I've ever been in. Like ever; my entire life. They had security guards, a private DJ, and a freakin' buffet!!! Unlimited alcohol. I was at home. It was interesting to see the rich side of Oaxaca. Gated neighbourhoods and architecturally impressive homes everywhere. My Spanish was absolute ****, but I managed to socialize ;). Now here I am, back in the regular part of town. To think I've only been here for 2 days is ridiculous. It feels like it's been a week already. Tomorrow I will be returning to Santa Domingo for mass :) Buenos Noches Amigos!
