Day 4 The beautiful Lake Pehoe - Torres del Paine, Chile
Torres del Paine, Chile
Day 4 to Paine Grande After our epic day yesterday we had a very lack lustre day and spent the majority of the day wandering around the ridge line with persistent rain and visibility limited The devastation of the fire by an Israeli who lite some toilet paper back in 94 and wiped out thousands upon thousands of hectares. The authorities tracked him down and charged him with being reckless and he was fined 400 USD for what would change parts of this epic trek forever. About 30 minutes from the camp I hear my phone playing music and when I pull it out in is drowning in water and with that frozen to death. So I now am writing this from Steve's phone and my 100s of photos lost as it's completely dead We reach the campsite a good couple of hours ahead of schedule because we forfeit lunch to be free of the unforgiving rain. Today is Jared's day where he hits the wall with epic proportion - my New York buddie who kept us entertained for hours. He unloads - I hate this ****, living like a flaming pepper in a stinking tent, smelling like a piece of **** eating **** food and as for the farking rain wind and snow this sucks. I break out and laugh then stand to clap him as we all do hit the wall sometime on these journeys and mine was as early as day 2 but kept it to myself as opposed to perform like a trained seal but no idea when and this is definitely his. I laugh and tell him this **** is good and makes you and for the next few hours we chew the fat and look at the bright side. I like this kid from NY he has a very similar upbringing to me and definitely a fighter and can see we will continue our contact long after this journey has finished. We all turn in early for another day closed as we continue towards the Paine Mastif
