Dubai/Abu Dabi - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

So why United Arab Emirates!? Simple answer is my Aunt is awesome! We organised this detour in our travels so Dee and I can get a chance to visit my Auntie (Aine) in Abu Dahi where she has been working for the past 4 years. And just as luck would have it her husband John and her two daughters Beibhin and Aoibhin were around to make the experience even more enjoyable. As we landed in Dubai airport Dee had great fun laughing at my nerves as we approached passport inspection. I don't know why I get nervous when I have nothing to hide but i suppose its just one of those things. Anyway we got through with no hassle but had to remember not to show affection to each other as we are not married, so kissing and holding hands were off the cards for 6 days or we could find ourselves in prison, and I'm not joking! In true Irish fashion we had no phone and only The Irish Village Dubai as an address to meet with the gang in such a huge city. The taxi driver was not impressed with our lack of organisation but we found it after some nervous moments (well from my side anyway!!). We were warmly welcomed by Aine, John and the girls which marked the start of a wonderfull experience for us. Where to begin?! We stayed in Abu Dhabi the first for a few days then to Dubai for two nights. We did so much it's hard to write it all down but in a nut shell the highlight were.... > Hanging out with family which was our highlight of the trip. > STEAK.. After a week in India it was heaven. > Johns nerves!!! > Tallest building in the world the Burg Kilifa, with our tour guides Beibhain and Aoibhin. > Beibhain's Indian Ali Baba style trousers, which she wore proudly around the malls of Dubai. > Sitting in a Ferrari pretending I was the coolest cat in town but in reality they are as common as a supped up Honda civic on a Saturday night in the square. > Swimming at night and chilling at the beach, where the water was the warmest that I have ever felt, thoroughly relaxing. > Roof top hot tube looking over Dubai city (unbelievable) > Stonecold Ice cream, we got to get these guys to come to Ireland, I think Aoibhin is already complying a petition!! > Movie nights! > Pimp my Emirate, this is where the male emirates would take their wife's out to the mall, (which I think is all they do) and pimp them out with the latest in jewellery and handbags, the hypocrisy was oozing from this place at every turn. People can still be stoned in this country and yet they embrace Western society and trends in every foundation they build. You see young emirates with their white vales on but their limbs are dress like boys from the hood, with shiny jewellery and baseball caps (backwards of course) LL Cool J would be proud. > Aoibhins impeccable sense of direction! > Aine's energy, wit and local knowlegde which helped us make sense of this crazy place. >The Dancing Fountains and me missing the best one (MJ's Thriller) because i mistook a prayer room for a toilet, now that's a story for any other day! > John's Haggling!!.. It provided some serious entertainment. > Water park!!!!!!!!! Holy Molly what a day of thrills and heart popping moments as this place was class and we all had a ball especially when Dee let go of the huge raft we were on to fix her hair (typical) and she nearly fell off which would have made for an interesting experience as this ride was a whirlpool of mess with some narly slides. Such a fantastic week and we owe it all to the Riodans thank you so much for having us we will never forget your genoursity. Now Back to india for more crazy adventure!! How will we adjust after being so spoilt we don't know but here it goes...
