Mon itinéraire revisé...new itinerary - Luang Prabang, Laos

Tel que promis à Louis voici une mise à jour de mon itinéraire qui subira sans doute d'autres changements d'ici la fin. Tout d'abord, une rétrospective: je suis arrivé à Bangkok en Thaïlande le 2 février dernier. Après quelques jours de visite, nous avons voyagé vers le Myanmar voisin à Yangon, Mandalay et Bagan; sommes revenus à yangon pour nous envoler vers Dacca au Bengladesh où se vivait une crise politique grave. Nous avons donc devancé notre voyage au Bhoutan où nous sommes restés 4 jours avant de revenir à Bangkok. Nous nous sommes ensuite rendus à Chang Mai dans le Nord de la Thaïlande. Après une visite de la ville nous avons pris un forfait qui nous a conduits à Chiang Khong puis à la frontière laotienne oû nous avons pris un bateau lent vers Luang Prabang oû nous sommes jusqu'à dimanche. Dimanche nous nous envolons vers Hanoï au Vietnam: nous visiterons cette ville, la Baie d'Halong et un village indigëne. Puis Léo-Paul s'envolera vers Montréal alors que je continuerai mon voyage seul vers Hué, Hoi An et Ho Chi Minh Ville. Le 23 mars, je naviguerai encore sur le Mékong mais cette fois en sens inverse vers Phnom Penh au Cambodge. Dans ce pays, jje visiterai Battabang et les ruines d'Angkor WAT à Siem Reap. Retour à Phnom Penh pour m'envoler à Kuala Lumpur en Malaisie. Je continuerai ensuite jusqu'à la cité-état de Singapour. Le 10 ou 11 avril, je m'envolerai vers le Sultanat de Brunei où je passerai quelques jours puis m'envolerai pour les Philippines du 15 au 26 avril. Ensuite ce sra une semaine à Taïwan, une autre en Corée du Sud et enfin du 11 au 30 mai au Japon. Retour à Gatineau le 31 mai. Voilà! Hier nous avons mangé un genre de fondue, version laotienne...difficile à décrire mais succulent. Aujourd'hui nous sommes allés visiter les chutes de Kouang Si... Extraordinaire! Bravo René, tu as la bonne réponse car il s'agit bien du Pathet Lao qui a pris contrôle du Laos en 1975 et tient encore les rennes du pouvoir. As I have promised before, here is an update of my itinerary; surely other changes will follow later. First a retrospective: I arrived in Bangkok on February 2nd. After a few days visiting, Paul and I left for neighboring Myanmar, in Yangon, Mandalay and Bagan. Back in Yangon we left for Dhaka, Bangladesh, where we found ourselves in the middle of a political turmoil. We advanced our trip to Bhutan where we stayed four days, then flew back to Bangkok. We traveled by bus to Chiang Mai, in Northern Thailand, visited the place and arranged a package deal that brought us to Chiang Khong and the Lao border where we boarded a slow boat to Luang Prabang in Laos. We will be staying here until Sunday. On Sunday, we will fly to Hanoi in Vietnam, visit Halong Bay and a village of ethnic Vietnamese. Then on March 15, Leo-Paul leaves for Montreal and I carry on, alone to Hue, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City. On March 23, I will be sailing again on the Mekong river but up the current to Phom Penh in Cambodia. After visiting the capital, I will also visit Battabang and Angkor Wat in Siem Reap. Back in the capital, I intend to fly to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and then the city-state of Singapor. On April 10 or 11, I will fly to the Sultanate of Brunei where I will spend a few days and fly to the Philippines from April 15 to 26.. Then theremis anweek in Taiwan, another in South Korea. This 2nd portion of my trip should finish in Japan where I lan to be from May11 to 30 and fly back home on May 31st. Last night we had a treat: we ate a Lao version of a fondue... Difficult to describe but yummie!. Today we visited the Kouang Si waterfalls... Awesome! Congratulations to Rene who has the right answer: yes it is the Pathet Lao who took control of Laos in 1975 and still exercises it. Ginette a demandé si les Laotiens ont gardé un peu de culture française. Peu de gens parlent encore français même si certains bureaux gouvernementaux affichent en français. Exemple: au bureau de poste tout est affiché en français mais les commis ne le parlent pas. Beaucoup de maisons ont gardé un style français et la cuisine aussi a gardé des signes de la France, p.e. Baguettes. Paul-André vrut savoir si nous voyons des traces de la guerre du Vietnam: pas encore car c'est plus prës de la frontière qu'on pourrait les voir s'il en reste.
