Aussie lifestyle ! - Mooloolaba, Australia

Mooloolaba, Australia

Sorry it's taken me so long to put up the latest blog, have been busy trying to settle in to Aussie lifestyle which is tough when its just so sunny !! Haha. So the 5th December was spent handing out more CVs and relaxing at the house, followed by our first bootcamp session (kettle bells)... It nearly killed me ! But it was actually really good so we will stick with it and we actually have a complimentary personal trainer session with Mitch tomorrow. Back to the house an Sara made us burgers for dinner. Time for bed. Friday was Alice's birthday so we woke as had breakfast and gave her her pressie... A ticket to the Australia zoo. It was valid for a year so not necessary to rush there that day. Instead we decided to try and go strawberry picking but unfortunately the strawberry season had finished and there wasnt any berries to pick. Quick change of plan and I suggested mini golf. So sara, leech and I found the putt putt course and had 18 holes of funny mini golf. Sara won, I let leech come second because it was her birthday and gracefully took last position... Not !! Haha it was a good laugh. Deciding it was a lovely day we drove back to Sara's and bought lots of goodies from Coles so that we could have an absolute feast of a picnic on the beach. We made pasta salad, coleslaw, guacamole and bought some lovely dips from the deli. Yummy yummy all washed down with some birthday beers!! Leech and I took a quick dip but soon got cold as it was really quite windy. Nice though out there on mooloolaba beach. Really appreciating the clean coast after experiencing the horrors of Asia. Back to the house and Sara invited her friend someone over for some cocktails so we sat and shared some piña colada :). Simone had to get back to baby maya so she invited us back to hers later once baba was asleep. Meanwhile leech, Sara and I carried on partying and playing fuzzy duck. Think it's safe to say I won! Over to simones with drinks and nibbles and sat having a Girly chitchat. Which was good and simone is a right character... Knows how to have a laugh haha. She kicked us out though as she had work in the morning. Not to bother we went back to Sara's and got bombarded by her neighbours who decided they were going to join us. It ended up with us playing a 2 and a half hour long game of I went to the shop and I bought. Alice tried to win with tactics of buying extremely complicated things but only really managed to make it harder for herself. 15 apples (10 green, 5 red), 82 ping pong balls and 17 eye lashes all different colours tehe. What is she like. Hopefully it was a good birthday but nothing like it would have been back home. Eventually got the boys to leave and we retired to bed. Planning to go to the zoo the next day. Saturday morning Alice's head hurting a little and not feeling to fresh, surprisingly I was doing ok. We were up and having breakfast though and ready to go to the zoo. I had made us both a pack lunch and sara had let us borrow her car. Dropped the boys and her off at croquet and grabbed directions to the zoo. Found our way there easily and parked up. Entrance into the park was smooth as anything ... No queuing at all. First show we saw was the big tortoise ... He was huge! Then we went and saw the otters live who were seriously cute I think they may challenge puffins for the position of my favourite animal. We walked around the zoo for a bit, looking at all the reptiles and birds and then made our way to the crocoseum which is where Steve Irwin used to do his thing! We saw some extremely impressive birds, dingoes and a mahoosive croc who could stand on his tail. Pretty cool ! Saw lots more animals including giraffes, rhinos, tigers, tiger cubs, zebras, eagles and wombats. Also had our photo taken with a koala :) he smelt quite a lot but was still adorable. Zoo'd out we made our way for the exit. A quick stop at the animal hospital but unfortunately you had to pay to view all the baby animals. Ate the remains of our lovely leftovers lunch in the car and leech drove us home. Cracking day at Australia's zoo and really glad leech enjoyed her birthday present. Sara had made us a roast dinner bless her so had that, went for a little walk and then got to bed. Spent Sunday biking around mooloolaba and got ourselves to the Christmas shop, to buy each others stockings haha, the a Mart to buy swimming goggles ( ones that actually work and aren't from a market stall in Nepal ) and ended up at the gorgeous outdoor 25m pool in mountain creek. Swam a mile and a half and got some impressive swimming costume tan lines to boot ! Once back at the house we had some lunch and then walked to the sunshine plaza. A lovely coastal path walk but it took longer than expected and when we got there all the shops were closed. It was Sunday after all haha. Turned straight back round... At least we had enjoyed our 3 hour beach front walk in the sunshine. Lasagne for din dins and we decided we need to get in contact with tony the next day to see if we have a job or not. Monday morning arrived and this mornings activity was interval training out to Cartwright point. Knee just about held out but it was quite sore. Can't wait for my trainers to arrive ... Thankyou mummy! Had breakfast before getting ready to go and ask Tony about the job opportunity. We got over to the restaurant only to be turned straight back around and told by tony to go and get changed we would be needed to work. We did exactly as told but when we got back to the restaurant tony had gone and dan had no idea why he had asked us to come in. Haha oh dear not very organised. Eventually both of them were there and we got stuck in with moving equipment out the back and cleaning 5 big fridges. 3 hours of paid work and Tony has pretty much confirmed our job there which is awesome news :) training starts on the 13th. Made the first batch of Christmas mince pies and in the afternoon went for a wade, walk and swim along the beach. Can't get our heads around the thought of an extremely hot and sunny Christmas in only 16 days how crazy! Lovely chicken, mash and veg for dinner and watched some tv with Sara. Finally up to date with the blog and really sorry it took me so long. Love to all and hope the fam all had a wonderful time at elsa's first birthday. Mwah big kisses, little libs xxxxxx
