Hotel Cerny Slon (Black Elephant) - Prague, Czech Republic
Prague, Czech Republic
Hotel Cerny Slon in Prague will be the last hotel we'll stay in on our journey across Central Europe. The hotel dates back to the 14th century and is a family owned and operated hotel. It is listed as one of the UNESCO heritage sights. It is located in the heart of Old Town near the Astronomical Clock tower. When we got here Saturday night the square was alive with all kinds of activity, food vendors, singers, souvenir vendors, actors, and many people enjoying the sights, sounds and activities. After watching some of the activities we decided to eat at one of the restaurants in the square where we could continue to people watch! August 25th...Sunday We visited the Jewish ghetto today. It is the historic Jewish area of Prague where we went through the old Jewish cemetery, Jewish museums, synagogues ... One of the most beautiful being the Spanish synagogue. The old cemetery had gravestone upon gravestone all stacked together, falling over, some with coins on ledges, some stacked against the walls of the buildings. It rained most of the day today so even with a couple of umbrellas borrowed from the hotel, we got a little wet. Chris headed back to Brno as he had to go to work tomorrow morning. We'll have a free day here in Prague and will have to see how the day pans out as there is 100% chance of rain. I guess a little rain won't hurt us at all!
