singapore rooftop bars - Singapore, Singapore
Singapore, Singapore
ever since i saw marina bay sands hotel during my first time in singapore i wanted to watch the sunset from the rooftop. i have never payed and i will never pay for observation decks, but got told that you are able to get up there for free if you are going to the bar. that was my plan for today, and got two girls from couchsurfing to meet up with me there. put makeup on for the first time in two months and were glad i bought a new dress just before leaving sri lanka. i must admit i felt a bit out of place with my dirty tote bag, flip flops (only travell with flip flops and hiking shoes), 20 sek/2gbp dress from sri lanka and a broken cardigan walking thorugh the hotel trying to find the right lift to the bar. i suppose most of the people staying at this hotel spend more money in less than a week than i do during my whole trip around the world. finally found the right place for entering the bar, had to tell a woman i wanted to go there, got a ticket, took the lift and got shown to the bar. managed to hang out in the bar with the most beautiful view in whole singapore for free, then me and the girls strolled around the bay front and had dinner at an outside food court just by the water. i tasted stingray for the first time and also ordered a dish with grilled chicken and some other things i had no idea what it was, drenched in peanut sauce. very tasty! from there i saw my second light show in singapore, with music and light from mbs. you are supposed to be able to see the light from everywhere in singapore. after dinner we went to an even more posh rooftop bar (i'm glad i had a local with me showing the way, as you entered walking through the hotel) that was supposed to have the second best view in singapore, after marina bay sands. actually think the view was even better! there me and jocelyn shared a cocktail for 26 dollars called the merlion. super good, but could not expect anything else after paying that kind of money. actually was one of the cheapest things you could order from the menu. managed to miss the last train to my hostel, so catched a bus instead and jumped of close to the 24/7 opened mustafa centre. i could not resist getting in to their bakery buying an oreo cheesecake to end the evening with!
