Big update! - Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

We took the collectivo bus to Akumal on Friday. The collectivo is a small bus that takes a limited number of people to any destination. The bus sits at the curb and waits to be filled and once it's full it takes off to many destinations. We have never waited longer than five minutes to take off. The cost to get Akumal was only seven dollars for two of us! Cheaper than a taxi! And more comfortable than the city bus. We spent a lovely day at Akumal. We had a beautiful lunch of nachos al Pastor on the beach. I tried snorkeling! I failed miserably! Didn't see any fish - bummer! We ended the day with lemonade while sitting I'm bar swings on 5 th ave. 5th ave is a pedestrian street with lots of shops and high priced restaurants . We were "barked" into an Argentine restaurant where we had chorizo , raviolies, and a very strong melted provelone cheese. Just an ok stop. Not as good as the Argentine pizza we had one or two nights back. The next day we took the collectIvo to XPLOR! XPLOR Is a park with lots of fun activities involving feats of courage! Grampa and I did 2 zip line courses - totaling 16! Some even landed in the water! one even went down a waterslide! We rafted through the cenote We also swam through the cenote. Yes grandpa swam! Cenotes are water filled caves which required hardhats to prevent being bonked in the head by a stalactite! We were too tired to go out for dinner and too full from the excellent Buffet we had at XPLOR. All food and drinks were included. No alcohol served due to the physical risks involved. We did drink healthy smoothies complete with wheat grass!
