Gorilla tracking being a remarkable safari in Uganda and world wide stands in one of the top positions of the most sought after wildlife holidays. I enjoyed my trip in during the five day gorilla and chimpanzee tour.Whether you take your trip in Uganda, Rwanda or D.R. Congo, the experience is the same. A 5 day gorilla and chimpanzee holiday get you closer to the excitement of an actual safari in Africa.
On the first day, you fly to Bwindi National Park the renowned gorilla tracking area in Uganda. The forest is endowed with unbelievable wildlife like the chimpanzees, black colobus, grey checked mangabey, vervet monkeys, rich avian life that won it an award for the best birding destination in Africa from the Africa bird club in 2012. Nature is at its best as you take your trek to see the gorillas. The flight from Entebbe to Kihihi may take about 3 hours depending on the routing but finally you get to Kihihi. Treat yourself to a Bwindi nature walk safari where you will have the chance of participating in the iron smelting centre, fire making, shooting using bows and arrows, enjoy entertainment from the children and several others until you get to your lodge and relax.
Gorilla tracking is one the next day where you have the chance searching for the gorillas from the forest. The trek starts with briefing from the ranger station where you get to know about how to treat yourself while in the jungle. Hiring a porter at the beginning of your gorilla trek saves you the trouble of getting so worn out as he gives you extra support and at some point may The ground is a bit slippery and soggy but wearing tracking boots saves you the trouble of falling back. It is not easy to determine the actual time you may take to find the gorilla because of there regular mobility. At the start of your gorilla safari, you follow the trail which where the gorillas were last seen the previous day. Finally you get face to face with the gorillas, take there photographs and return home after an hour in there company.
The third day after gorilla trekking takes you through the picturesque drive to Kibale National Park. This drive may last 4 to 5 hours but very entertaining as you get to see the meandering rivers, rolling hills, the deep green valleys, meet friendly people, primates to mention but a few. Arrive in the evening for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Chimpanzee tracking on the forth day is the next activity on your itinerary. This is in Kibale National Park which is the biggest habitat for chimpanzees in Africa. Get to the ranger station early in the morning for briefing and in the company of your guide, follow the trails to search for the chimpanzees. They may get to see you before you do and worn others about your presence by hooting and hitting the roots. Return to the lodge and visit the Bigodi wet land where you have high chances of seeing the shoe bill.
After this gorilla and chimpanzee safari, fly back to Entebbe Airport to catch up with your home bound flight. Remember to carry a souvenir after your gorilla tracking safari.
