Today we had our first Korean breakfast. Very different to a traditional Aussie breakfast. We had a type of fried rice with a fried egg on top served with a bowl of chilli tofu soup. You use the rice to help break down the chilli. We also had a bowl of green salads and a bowl of fruit. The breakfasts have been great but too large for us. We managed to eat most of it but couldn't finish the soup.
We headed off to La Jolla near San Diego. It is also very close to the Mexican border. It took us nearly two and a half hours to get there. We saw our first nuclear power station.
Given we were so close to the Mexican border we decided to have Mexican for lunch. We both selected burritos. They were so big we could have shared one. I couldn't eat all of mine even though they were delicious. We have now witnessed the upsizing of the American meals.
We hired a dual kayak. Our goal was to kayak out in the La Jolla Ecological Reserve and then swim with the Leopard Sharks as well as explore the famous sea caves. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately we didn't see any sharks!! We did see some seals and sea lions sunning themselves on the rocks and swimming nearby. We had a great time. Noel got to use his new camera and extendable stick both in the water and in the canoe.
We had planned to drive to San Diego and visit the Balboa Park and Old Town San Diego but ran out of time. We headed back to our B&B and didn't back until 6.30pm.
We showered and changed and headed out to dinner. Our plan was to dine at The Greyhound but it was way too noisy. They had the LA Dodgers game on their large screens and the crowd was very noisy. So we ended up having Italian again.
We spent some time with Yura and Tom before they head off to the airport for their midnight flight to Asia. They have left us in the capable hands of Sue, Yura's mother.
