Finally an update... - Colorado Springs, CO

Colorado Springs, CO

Hi all, Here I am with an update, it has been more than a month now...But I have been very busy with all kind of things. The last days of July and begin of August were hectic with J&J, in particular lost passports of crew members. **** happens, and a solution needs to be found. So I spent lots of time in the office were I had a nice view on a nest of Red Tail Hawks. The babies were learning to fly... The first weekend of August (Sunday) I went to a Bluegrass and Beer festival in Keystone, I have to say it was more Beer than Music...But that's how I found out American culture. The second week of August I started to bring my mountainbike out again and bought a grill! Hiking and biking were the activities after hours and during the weekend until August 22. Workwise I was working on quotes for some 2014 projects and preparing the build of Made in America end of August. I found out some real good trails, different ones, there are trails with lots of climbing but also trails to do some long distance trainings. In the meantime also my Belgian special products arrived...I can start making pancakes and Belgian fries. The weekend of August 17 I made pancakes. For my apartment I ordered some decoration, pictures of hang on the walls, some of them work related others just from trips I made in the past. The day before I was leaving for Philadelphia, my personal stuff that came in the containers arrived at Colorado Springs...woohoo! August 24 I left Colorado Springs for Philadelphia, I was going there for 12 days as project manager of the "Made in America" festival. Arrived at the hotel I met up with my mixed crew, 50%25 Europeans and 50%25 Americans. It was gonna be a tough build, while we were in front of the "Rocky Steps" and had a limited boneyard. The road in front of the stage was just partially closed and forklift drivers had to risk their lifes for us. After 3,5 days building we were ready, now we could start thinking about the load out...that was gonna be a hard time too while 2/3 of the gear had to go in seacans back to Europe. On Friday I picked up a rental car to visit the Stageco yard in Manheim. Aug 31 and Sep 1 was the festival, I saw some concerts namely Emeli Sandé, Phoenix, Beyonce, Queens of the Stone Age, ... Two days load out and on Wednesday I flew back to Colorado Springs were I was gonna catch up with Jeff and Melvin Podolski who are on a roadtrip from Chicago to LA. It was nice to have some 'Belgian' visitors. Thursday was back to the office... Today, Saturday I was gonna go for a long ride, but in the morning I took time for a serious breakfast and to contact family in Belgium. Finally I left at Bear Creek at 1:00 PM, It was hot (30°)! After 2u45 I arrived back at my car...I had again some amazing views! But the highlight of the day still had to come... I left the parking lot and after not even a kilometer some people were standing on the road watching at 'something'...I stopped as well and was surprised to see 2 black bears, oh my god!!! A mother and her baby...and I was only 15-20m away from them, AMAZING!!! After such a big ride I deserved a nice meal so I decided to use the Blanc de Boeuf and made steak bearnaise with Belgian fries! Mmmmm, delicious! Almost time to go to bed, tomorrow I will go for a ride of 40 - 50 km with the mountainbike. Oh yes, before I forget to tell you, I have a new car! Nice!!! By the way, end of July/beginning of August it rained every evening for a short time, I can tell you I have never seen so many lightning strikes in my life!!! That's it for now...enjoy the pictures and till the next time.
