Day 26 - valleys and drives - Captain Cook, HI
Captain Cook, HI
We woke up to the sound of some very heavy rain! Our tin roof probably amplified it lots more than normal but it sounded like the heaviest rain I've ever heard! We lazily got ready and tried to decide what to do if it kept raining all day. We decided on a drive up to the north coast. Thankfully just as we left the rain stopped :) we finally left after I got a bit nervous as I couldn't find my purse! Finally remembered that I had put it in the safe to keep it safe - doh! We firstly made our way to a beach North of kona. It had lovely white sand and blue sea... However the size of the waves were incredible! No way we were going in there! So we had lunch on the beach and left :) after this we made our way to Pololu valley - amazing views down the coastline and up the valley! There was a hike down the valley and then back up again. Very steep and soooooo humid!! We were proper sweating on the way up :) It was about a 2 hour drive back to our cottage so we left after this. We decided to try Target (huge!) and got some more alcohol on our way back. We finally got back just after 7 and Doug cooked us a lovely meal of chicken and sweet potato! Tomorrow we check out and into our next cottage. It's fair to say we are very excited about washing our clothes!!! Davina
