Harajuku Girls - Tokyo, Japan

Tokyo, Japan

After our night out with Shin and Shoe we quickly rid ourselves of our cell hostel. On our way out we noticed this cutting, but accurate review note from a fellow guest!

Delirious and in need of some retail therapy we hit Harajuku for a shopping spree. Harajuku is famed for its quirky, eccentric Japanese fashion, think Gwen Stefani Harajuju Girls!

Other great finds included the Hello Kitty shop

And the worlds largest sanitary towel!

We left Harajuku in high spirits and considering it was a bank holiday, there was only really one option for the evening .... to hit the Shibuya again!

On the metro out Chatty notified me of a “Chatty Allen Special”. From her description, I really needed a proper viewing. Here is the vid so you can appreciate too!

In Shibuya we met a guy who was filming a documentary about Tokyo government's regime to shut down all city nightclubs - the government clearly thinks the partying is getting out of hand, a disaster in our eyes!

We wanted a drink in hand whilst scouring for clubs and bars, so we headed to a Family Mart, the Japanese equivalent of Budgens to get a cheap bevy. We opted for a vodka based drink which was appropriately named Strong, see ads below.

There is, however, one big difference between Budgens and Family Mart.... Even for the average citizen it is totally acceptable to drink on the chairs inside the supermarket - there are no tramp associations! Giving our legs a break, we sat for a moment and sure enough met our two new bessies for the night. Introducing Dyke and Hero. Dyke regularly shops at Harajuku.

Continuing our trend in making friends with the right people Dyke was mates with the organiser of a big House night at Tokyo's biggest club... Womb, lolz. So, of course, we accepted his invitation for cheap entry, and once we were in we partied the night away.

The following day we had a lunch date with Shin (our mate from the previous night - far too many boyfriends to keep track of!), so after a lazy morning we met Shin during his lunch break. He took us to a local Tapas bar where we questioned him about life in Tokyo over some questionable Pork and veggie lasagne.

To continue our day of food we ventured to an Alice in Wonderland Themed Restaurant for dinner. Themed restaurants are quite a common thing in Tokyo, the most renowned one being “Alcatraz Prison”. We decided against trying out this one as we thought our previous hostel experience was prison enough! The Wonderland restaurant was placed on the fifth floor of a building, making us question what else is out there in Tokyo, hidden away on the upper floors of buildings?!

As you may be able to tell, we feel Tokyo is the only city that fully embraces our weirdness.
