Start spreading the news - we're here - New York City, NY

New York City, NY

Arrive in New York after getting the bus from Washington. Some great scenery on the way, free wi fi and all flights cancelled that day. Great call Dad!!! Great to be back in the city that never sleeps. Girls very excited. Weather cold but what do you expect at Xmas. Checked into apartment midtown at 5th and 30th. Dad struggled to fit into the toilet sized elevator and kitchen but very quaint and very New York. No waste of time and we were straight down 5th to Times Square, Broadway eating hot dogs, pizza and being awed by the lights. Caught up with our great friends the Coffeys who are staying next door for the week. Wonderful next day when we caught the water taxi to the 9/11 Memorial and the Statue of Liberty. Incredible scenery at Liberty Island and were lucky enough to pass at sunset. Memorial is quite confronting with the size and names. Finished the night at Madison Square Garden with the basketball with the Coffeys. Great game between the Knicks and Washington Wizards with the wizards getting over the line. Freezing next day and girls experienced first day in falling snow. WOW. Lucky enough to get some photos with some of the New York celebrity folk before ice skating at the Rockefeller centre in the afternoon with snow still coming down. Capped the night off with the Broadway musical Matilda, the Tim Minchin directed one. Fantastic and girls enjoyed immensely. Started the day with a climb to the top of the Empire State. We'll maybe an elevator and six flights. Did the New York Sky-ride and got to experience some magnificent views across Manhattan. Walked the shopping avenue of the 5th and spent afternoon walking the snow filled Central Park before lunch with Prices at the incredible Boathouse. Bumped into the Coffees who who were also living the highlife. Amanda and Katie did the 5th Avenue shopping thing whilst Tails, Lu Lu and Dad hung around Times Square and Broadway lookin cool. A snappy three dogs on the way home and we were happy. Chelsea High line which is an unused rail line that spears thru the high rises on the lower west side started the morning for us before morning tea at the Chelsea markets. A couple of celebrity spots in Katie Homes minus Tom and Andy Garcia. Afternoon spent cycling around Central Park under blue skies and snow backdrop. Great weather today but hillier than one would expect in the park. Met the Coffees for the annual Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Hall with Santa and the Rockettes. The name says it all. Great fun and the New Yorkers very much know how to celebrate at this time of year. Ended night at the Rock with fantastic views across the Manhattan night skyline.
