Perth - East Perth, Australia

East Perth, Australia

It's been 2 weeks since we landed in Perth. We got picked up by Amy and Tobi, Amy's boyfriend, at the airport. We then went straight to Amy's apartment, to have a look where we would be living for the next 3 months! Our bedroom is cool. We have a double bed with our own bathroom which is very cool. God knows what we are going to be like in January, when we have to go back to hostels again. I remember it being very hot and sunny on our first day, which is weird as it has been non stop rain since then! After Amy and Tobi finished work that afternoon, we went to the beach and watched the sunset, whilst having a beer in a bar, which was cool. For the first couple of days we looked around the city, which is more like a big town, and explored. We can get to the city on a free shuttle bus called the cat, which is very handy when on a budget!! Amy and Toby also had friends over for dinner for a couple of nights which was good, as we got to meet their friends! Everyone seems very cool and friendly. In our first week Jo and I saw some dolphins in the river, just down the road from were we are living, which put a very big smile on our faces! We then went to Heirisson island to see our first kangaroos, they were quite small but very cute! We also got to drove Amy's car, as in Australia you insure the car not the person, so it was very cool to drive around, even if it was weird to drive in a new car in a new country! Our first weekend was spent going to the casino for one of Amy's friends birthday parties, which was fun as we met more new people and Tobi got wasted that night which was fun to watch! Saturday we went to see Rudimental which was brilliant, we all got very drunk and danced around! Was fun, got some very funny pictures! Don't remember much from that night :) then on Sunday dreading the morning, I was surprisingly ok. We went out for breakfast and I had this all day breakfast as a burger, which went down a treat! Our second week, Jo and I explored a bit more of Perth and went out on Amy and Tobi's bikes. We went to Kings park which was a lovely park, that has amazing views of the city! Mum and dad would love it, just for the fact it had so many plants! We decided to take a picnic, which Jo regretted as she got attacked by parrots and crows, I thought it was very amusing!! We also went there one evening with Amy and Tobi so we could get some pics of the city at night. We also went east of Perth along the river for a bike ride, which was good. Got lost a couple of times but always found the way back to the path! Jo and I also visited the Perth mint, where we saw them melt down the gold to form the bars! That was good. Made me want to go gold hunting to make my fortune! Could have just stolen it there and then, if there wasn't so much security around! We went to Fremantle at the weekend, so many people were wearing purple. It just so happened Fremantle were playing Sydney in the AFL Finals game, which they managed to win and got through to the grand final, so we will be watching that next week! Everyone was supporting them it was good! Had an amazing buzz around the place! We had fish and chips for lunch by the harbour and had a drink in a brewery called little creatures (the guy who worked at the bank, Jo and I went to to sort out our accounts told us to go there). It was good, lots of people were there enjoying the sun, which made an appearance! Today Jo and I went for a drive around the Perth hills which looked amazing, shame about the weather. Can't wait to explore it when it's sunny! Jo and I are going to search around for some jobs soon I think, as we want to save some money for a 2 week road trip we have planned, for when Amy and Tobi are away. Going to go north to Broome and back which I'm really excited for! We also have a trip to rottnest island to book (which was a present from Jos friends) and we booked a trip to penguin island to see the worlds smallest penguins and we booked an extra side trip to go on a dolphin and sea lion cruise with it also! We also have trips planned with Amy to go whale watching and to see Fremantle prison for when Tobi is away! Can't wait for the next couple of weeks to start actually doing some of this stuff, I'm just itching to go out there. Just need the sun to come out now, so we can do it!! Next week were going to Kalbarri, for Amy's birthday for a long weekend! Which should be good! I think we definitely need jobs, as I have so much planned I'm going to have no money!! Perth is a lovely place to be, and can't believe we're living in a City in Australia!!
