Arrived in Bangkok after a 4am start and two flights (from Kuching and KL) ready for the arrival of Lilly and Annie who were flying out from the UK. We spent the evening and next day swimming and bartering for clothes. We picked up Lilly from the airport, had a relatively quiet night on Khoasan road; had tea (thai curry- yum), my first alcoholic beverage of the trip (piña colada) and chatted to some travellers. The following day we climbed the Golden Mount in the morning, and then Lilly and I headed to the pool whilst Alice returned o the airport to pick up Annie. Unfortunately, just as we were heading up to the pool it started to rain. We managed to have a quick dip when the rain stopped before the others returned. With the Thailand group complete we had a little night out (despite Annie having been on a night flight)- went out for tea, found a cute new road which ran parallel to Khoasan and went to some bars there and went on a crazy tuk tuk ride through Bangkok. Annie and Alice needed to sort out their Vietnam visas the next day, so me and Lilly went for a morning swim then took a tuk tuk to Wat Pho (the reclining Buddha that I had visited with Alice but thought Lilly might want to see) and then went to Wat Arun which involved crossing the river on a ferry. Had fun climbing the tower thing there (see photo- I'm sure there's a proper name for that type of structure but not sure what it is) using the most terrifyingly steep steps. Lilly needed a little encouragement but we both made it to the top. Took a tuk tuk back and met Alice and Annie for tea, ready to take a night bus (!!!!!) to Koh Phi Phi.
