From legendary landmarks such as Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park to exciting ski areas and stunning landscapes, Wyoming is truly a destination location! Here are four can’t miss locations for your trip to the Equality State.
Yellowstone National Park
Wyoming is home to Yellowstone National Park, one of America’s most diverse and scenic national parks. At over 2.2 million acres, the park offers everything from spectacular geysers and geothermal activity to beautiful waterfalls and pristine lakes. Of course, one of the highlights of Yellowstone is the abundance of wildlife such as bison, elk and bears. Hikers enjoy more than 1,000 miles of trails including the Old Faithful Geyser Loop, Avalanche Peak Trail and the Slough Creek Trail.
Grand Teton National Park
Wyoming also contains the spectacular Grand Teton National Park, named after the massive 13,770 foot mountain that dominates the landscape. Although Grand Teton and its surrounding peaks can be viewed outside of the park via the highway, the Teton Park Road within the park winds close to the base of the mountain range. Visitors to Grand Teton National Park enjoy exploring the large Jenny Lake area, where boats shuttle guests across the lake to exciting hiking trails, or they float down the Snake River.
Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole is a gorgeous valley surrounded by mountains that contains the town of Jackson, Jackson Hole Airport, and the three ski resorts of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Snow King Resort, and Grand Targhee Resort. Winter enthusiasts especially love the ski and snowboard area of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, which contains the nation’s longest continuous vertical rise. While in Jackson Hole, skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of companies like Ski Butlers ski rentals, where rental equipment can conveniently be reserved online.
Devils Tower National Monument
The Devils Tower National Monument, an incredible flat-topped volcanic formation in northeast Wyoming, towers over 1,200 feet above the state’s eastern plains and the Belle Fourche River. Visitors to the monument can check out the Devils Tower Visitor Center and hike 8 miles of nature trails near the monument, including a popular 1.3 mile paved trail around the formation. In the region, visitors also enjoy fishing in the Belle Fourche River and exploring the magnificent shoreline of nearby Keyhole State Park.
