Sentosa, the self-proclaimed state of fun (and it probably us), south of Singapore. What once used to be just all about historical sites like Fort Siloso (with its wax museum), Musical Fountain and (at the time the only aquarium) Underwater World, now is a modern resort island filled with much more activities. Looking for adventure (e.g. lunging, surfing, flying), a romantic night out at the beach or some beach fun, or somewhere to chill, relax, enjoy and have fun? Well, there is most certainly something that is for everyone. So here is a guide on some of the things you can do when you are at this island of fun and what are some of the options.
With a themepark, aquarium, casino, beaches, plenty of food and shopping options, and lots more activities the time spent on Sentosa can be as short as 1 day to as long as 4 days (or more) if you want to try out everything on the little island!
Many of the attractions and activities are quite short, so it is possible to squeeze in quite a bit within a day, but why rush if you have time? If you want to get a taste of the themepark, than a day would suffice but if you want to try everything in the themepark, you might take 2 days to complete all the rides (due to the long queues!). So if you are planning to hang out at Sentosa for more than 1 day and your budget allows, why not consider pampering yourself by staying on the island? Sure, it be be (quite) pricey, but sometimes that's what holidays are... pampering yourself and getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
1. Sentosa Accommodations
Most of the hotels on Sentosa are rated 4-5 stars so be prepared to pay at least about S$300 or more per night. Of course, if you come across any deals online it is most definitely worth it. Here are some recommendations:
Capella Sentosa: a luxury hotel aimed at travelers wanting to enjoy life at a slow pace in Singapore – is located on Sentosa, a southern island off Singapore. There are 3 cascading infinity pools available to guests at the Capella.
Möevenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa: A fusion of both the old and the new, Möevenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa exudes an old world charm that has modern conveniences, providing a luxurious haven that is away from the city. This upscale lifestyle hotel offers five-star facilities spread out over two distinct wings - the Heritage and Contemporary Wings.
Siloso Beach Resort Sentosa: This resort is situated amongst the tourist attractions, and Songs of the Sea, Revenge of the Mummy and Sentosa Musical Fountain are also close by. The resort also offers parking for guests with a car.
Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort: provides a day spa, as well as an outdoor pool, a sauna and a beauty centre, not to mention a golf course. Guests are able to enjoy views of the sea, the pool and the hills from their private balcony.
Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa: Those staying at the resort can start their morning at So SPA, or use the various leisure amenities, such as an outdoor pool. In fine weather, the local area can be explored by renting a bicycle. The resort enjoys an ideal location, allowing guests easy access to a range of popular attractions. It is also a brief car ride from Marina Bay Sands Casino, Marina Bay and Singapore River
2. Sentosa Attrractions
Resorts World Sentosa: This stop is a one stop shop, restaurants, shopping, theater, casino, themepark(s) and hotels.Here are some of the attractions at the resort.
Candylicious: all the candy you can imagine and than some.
Universal Studios Singapore (USS): the (only) themepark in Singapore (currently) with some pretty exciting rides.
Adventure Cove Waterpark: all the water fun you can imagine from water slides, wave pool, kid water play areas, a water based obstacle course, to snorkeling with fish over a reef and a river to tube (literally) around.
S.E.A. Aquarium: with about 100,000 marine animals of over 800 species spanning across 49 different habitats, the S.E.A. Aquarium is a fascinating watery exhibit of watery creatures.

Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom: a simple attraction that consists of 3 different areas,a butterfly and bird aviary with a museum lwith lots of bugs and creepy crawlies.
Tiger Sky Tower: Singapore’s highest observatory tower which spans 131 meters above sea level with views of Singapore and the surrounding Malaysia and Indonesia.
Sentosa Merlion: what visit to Sentosa (or Singapore for that matter) if you do not visit the iconic merlion? The Sentosa Merlion is a 37 meter tall structure which you can climb up, collect prosperity coins, ring a prosperity bell and look out over Singapore from the merlion’s mouth.
Skyline Luge Sentosa: the luge is basically a cart with breaks and steering that you can ride down one of two paths. Helmets, along with instructions are provided and brake checks are carried out to ensure your safety.
Surfing at Wavehouse: if you are a beach enthusiast, or if you are just looking for something more than just shopping and eating, head down to the Wave House located Siloso beach.The Wave House offers two rides, the FlowRider and the FlowBarrel.
Beaches: there are 3 beaches: Palawan, Siloso and Tanjong. Each beach is marketed to different groups – Palawan is for families, Siloso for action and Tanjong for couples wanting romance; a beach for everyone.
Fort Siloso: home to Singapore’s largest collection of World War II memorabilia.
Madame Tussauds Singapore (yes, we have our very own!): With a local Singaporean twist, you can not only rub shoulders with amazingly lifelike copies of Hollywood and Bollywood’s elite, but also with local celebrities likePhua Chu Kang, Mr and Mrs Lee Kuan Yew and Stefanie Sun.
