Reed MIDEM today announces that the third annual MIPCancun Latin America TV market has already sold out over 50% of its unique one-to-one distribution market and unveils plans to add two new Summits specifically tailored to programing and production executives.

MIPCancun will take place in Cancun, Mexico on 16-18 November 2016, at the new location of the Grand Fiesta Americana Hotel Cancun.

At the heart of MIPCancun is a distribution marketplace for TV programmes destined for Latin America, with a unique one-to-one matchmaking system that provides guaranteed pre-set meetings between some 250 rights holders and buyers.

The new MIPCancun Summits will give up to 300 senior programming and production executives unprecedented insight into the latest content and business trends shaping the future of TV in Latin America. The programme consists of two business tracks: the Digital Minds Summit and the Creative Summit, both focused on maximizing delegate interaction and stimulating new partnerships.

The Digital Minds Summit is an exclusive think-tank bringing together the most influential leaders who are driving the digital revolution in the Latin American and US Hispanic markets. Digital Minds sessions will be introduced by inspiring talks featuring leading digital studios, OTT platforms and broadcasters’ heads of digital development. Each session will be followed by round table workshops led by mentors and industry experts, with active delegate participation. The first day’s topic is Next Generation Content; day two will tackle Digital Content Distribution; and the third and final day will deliver a Survival Guide to OTT.

The Creative Summit gathers content executives from across Latin America, and features talks by heads of programming and content development, creators and showrunners, as well as round table workshops that encourage interaction by delegates and industry experts. Day 1 will focus on Creativity: Finding New Talent; Day 2 looks at Co-Production: Latam Producers and TV Channels; and Day 3 explores New Talent and Program Pitches.

With five months to go before MIPCancun, 70 exhibiting distributors have already signed up, including A&E Networks, All3Media International, BBC Worldwide Americas, Caracol Television, Comarex, Discovery Networks, FremantleMedia, Fox Latin American Channel, Globo, ITV – Inter Medya, RTI – Mediaset Group, Paramount Worldwide Television, Televisa Internacional, Telemundo Internacional, Sky Vision, and Viacom International Media Networks.

More than 100 top Latin American buyers from 23 countries are also due to attend, including representatives from Fox Networks Group Latin America, Disney Latin America, Telefonica, Telefe, Turner, Grupo Bandeirantes, Azteca, Blim, Televisa, Canal 22, TV Unam, A&E Networks Latin America, AMC Networks International, BBC Latam, Google/YouTube, HBO, NBC Universal, and Nickelodeon Latin America.

“Building on the success of the first two years, MIPCancun is creating a true community gathering for Latin American TV executives involved in all forms of content development, co-production, and formats, where the latest opportunities can be explored with the region’s trailblazers,” said Ted Baracos, Director of Market Development at Reed MIDEM, which organises MIPCancun.
