Southampton Airport has started flying passengers to new destinations Innsbruck and Andorra, as their biggest ever ski season gets underway.  A new flight to Grenoble also begins on Saturday.  These newest routes join annual ski favourites Chambery, Geneva, Grenoble and Salzburg.

Flybe, Europe’s largest independent regional airline, will start operating its brand new weekly ski route from Southampton airport to Grenoble this Saturday 21st December, with reports that the weekend flight prior to New Year will be particularly popular. Grenoble is a dynamic city with plenty of history and culture and its proximity to the Alps offers easy access to some of the region’s most popular ski resorts including the world-famous off-piste ski area, La Grave.

Flying to Innsbruck from Southampton with Inghams gives skiers easy access to world class skiing resorts in the heart of the Tirol region in Austria – in particular the main resorts of St. Anton, Mayrhofen and Kitzbühel. There’s also glacier skiing at Hintertux and Stubai, the picturesque village of Alpbach, the high-altitude Obergurgl and Kühtai plus the eight ski centres which surround the elegant Tirolean capital of Innsbruck. St Anton is reporting a good quality piste of up to 60cm, Mayrhofen up to 60cm of packed powder and Kitzbühel up to 70cm of packed powder.

Taking a skiing holiday in Andorra has never been easier now there’s a flight from Southampton with Neilson Holidays. Skiers can choose from the laid back resort of Arinsal, party-central Pas de la Casa or the legendary ski centre of Soldeu and El Tarter. Arinsal is currently reporting an upper piste of 80cm of packed powder, with Pas de la Casa, Soldeu and El Tarter up to 160 cm.

Jan Halliday, Southampton Airport’s Director of Marketing and Communications said: “Whether you’re looking for black run adrenaline or you’re just starting out and want to find a decent ski school with excellent après ski and facilities, skiing holidays from Southampton offer a great deal of choice and convenience. Snow conditions are looking great across our destinations, with substantial snowfall forecast in the next 48 hours.”

Passengers can book skiing package holidays for the 2013-14 season with tour operators Inghams, Neilson, Crystal Ski, Esprit Ski, Ski Total and Thomson Ski. Flights are also available with Flybe.
