Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hotel company and a member of Dubai Holding, has appointed Eddie Wong as the new Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific, based in Shanghai.

 

 

An Australian national, Mr. Wong has worked in the luxury hotel industry for 19 years and has extensive experience in China and the surrounding region. In previous roles he worked across all major market segments in luxury hotels including the MICE, corporate and leisure markets for Hyatt Hotels, Peninsula Hotels, Renaissance and Ritz-Carlton.

 

Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese, he most recently worked at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai as Director of Sales and Marketing. He led a team of 50 people and was responsible for PR, Marketing, Sales, Revenue Management and Conference Services. Wong previously spent five years with Peninsula Hotels in Hong Kong and worked his way up to Regional Director of Sales. His early career was with the Hyatt Regency in Hong Kong.

 

 

With a proven track record in luxury hotel sales, Mr. Wong will be tasked with driving outbound business from the Asia Pacific region into Jumeirah’s portfolio of 22 luxury hotels, resorts and residences around the world. In addition he will be helping to drive regional and domestic business into the company’s first hotel in China, Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai.

 

 

Jumeirah Group has a strong focus not only on attracting business from China and South East Asia but also on opening new hotels in the region. The company has so far has signed five management agreements for hotels in China in Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Macau, Sanya and Qindaohu, and one in Bali, Indonesia.
