About the Tour

Experience Kenya’s incredible wildlife and fantastic scenery on this seven day highlights tour. From the capital city, Nairobi, guests will be driven to the rugged Samburu National Park where they have the chance to enjoy several game drives into the Reserve searching for Africa’s illusive ‘Big 5’. Continue onto Lake Nakuru, and marvel at the lakes pink shimmering glow from the hundreds of thousands of flamingoes that reside here. Finally, spend two nights in the stunning Masai Mara National Reserve, one of the best Reserves in Africa. Day 1 – Canada – Abu Dhabi
Board your trans Atlantic flight to Abu Dhabi. Overnight onboard flight.

Day 2 – Arrival – Abi Dhabi
Upon arrival make your way to airport hotel for a night.

Day 3 – Arrival – Nairobi
Departing in the morning to Nairobi. Jambo! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, you will be met by our local representative who will greet you and assist with the transfer to Intercontinental Hotel for overnight.

Overnight: Intercontinental Nairobi

Day 4 & 5 – Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast, drive north via Nanyuki to the Samburu National Reserve. Arrive for lunch at your camp followed by an afternoon game drive. Later as the sun sets, you will be transferred back to your camp for dinner and overnight. You will have one more day of game viewing with all meals and overnight included.

The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the Beisa oryx (also referred to as (also referred to as Samburu Special Five). The reserve is also popular with minimum of 900 elephants. Large predators such as the lion, leopard and cheetah are an important attraction (Kamunyak the miracle lioness that adapted the baby oryx is a resident in the reserve).

Ashnil Samburu Camp provides luxurious accommodation in 24 deluxe tents, each of which provide stunning views onto the Ewaso Ngiro River. Located within the Buffalo Springs Reserve, this camp is a refuge and oasis in the middle of the African wilderness.

Facilities at this camp are elegant, modern and practical. Each tent is equipped with a dressing area, sitting area, luggage rack and en suite bathroom facilities. The main guest area is shaded by tall acacia trees, and guests can take advantage of the lounge area, bar and veranda with river view. The bar is tastefully decorated in a simple and elegant way with an African twist, and is a lovely place to spot wildlife whilst enjoying a fine wine or imported beer.

Day 6 – Lake Nakuru National Park
Continue with your journey this morning as you drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, a shallow alkaline lake that is world-renowned for its huge concentration of flamingos; at times, hundreds of thousands of these birds give the lake a pink shimmering glow. The park boasts a huge variety of animals, including leopard which is often found snoozing on the branches of the magnificent yellow-barked acacias, lion, buffalo, hippo, waterbuck, warthog, baboon, the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe only found in this park in Kenya, white rhino and the rare black rhino which is protected and guarded here.

Set on a plateau in the Rift Valley, overlooking one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles, Lake Nakuru, stands Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. The panoramic view from the lodge reveals a shimmering pink glow across Lake Nakuru, created by millions of flamingos, pelicans and marabou storks; the landscape blossoms natural foliage and a startling variety of flower gardens.

Day 7 & 8 – Masai Mara National Reserve
Your journey now takes you to the Maasai Mara, Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve. Arrive in time for lunch followed by afternoon game viewing drive.

The Maasai Mara is arguably Kenya’s most popular game reserve. It is most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya. The film “Out of Africa” was made to a great extend in this sanctuary. There is a profusion of all types of wildlife including the big five. A spectacle worth seeing is the annual migration of millions of wildebeests, zebras, and the gazelles from the Serengeti plains across the Tanzania border and the Mara river to reach Maasai Mara grazing fields from late June. The game reserve abounds with birdlife since close to about four hundred and fifty two odd species have been recorded.

Ashnil Mara Camp sits on the 25 million year pre-historic land which spans virtually all stages of life’s evolution and the fossil record. It comprises 30 luxury tents, located within the triangle in Maasai Mara National Reserve adjacent to the Mara River famous for the wildebeest migration. There are 30 tents, 15 twins (2 wheelchair friendly), 10 doubles and 3 triples, all overlooking the river. Perfect place to view wildlife and at the same time relax and take a dip in the pool after your game-drive. You will have one more day of game viewing with all meals and overnight at your camp.

Day 9 – Nairobi – Abu Dhabi

After breakfast at the Camp, bid farewell to the Masai Mara as you set on your journey back to Nairobi. Drive back down the Great Rift Valley to Nairobi, passing the dormant volcano, Mount Longonot, and lakes Elementaita and Naivasha on the way. Keep an eye out for herds of giraffe and gazelle and head up the escarpment. You will arrive in Kenya’s bustling capital city Nairobi in the early afternoon where you will be transferred to the Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your departure flight to Abu Dhabi. On arrival in Abu Dhabi you will be met by our local staff who will greet you and assist with the transfer to Hotel for overnight.

Day 10 – Abi Dhabi City Tour
Today enjoy a half day City Tour with English speaking guide. Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven emirates; the City has been described by CNN as the richest city in the world. It features large gardens, parks and green boulevards lining the streets and roads with a variety of sophisticated high-rise buildings. You visit the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Mosque and Yas Island, the site of the Yas Marina Circuit and Ferrari World. In the afternoon you can also take optional tour to Ferrari World or Yas water world.

Day 11 – Optional – Dubai Tour
After breakfast take optional Dubai tour. Experience the historic sites and vibrant cosmopolitan life of Dubai on this comprehensive sightseeing tour of the city. See Dubai’s famous landmarks like the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab hotel and the beautiful Jumeirah Mosque, and learn interesting details about them from your local guide. Take in views of the city’s most picturesque palaces and residential areas, and venture into Al Bastakiya, Dubai’s inspiring old quarter. Cross the Dubai Creek by abra (water taxi) and visit the spice souk. You will also have free time to shop in the glistening gold souk!

At around 3.30 PM you will meet your safari guide and proceed on a dune drive at Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. The mysterious desert beckons you for a magical evening out – an adventure you’ll never forget. Leaving behind the bustle of the city in the afternoon, our safari guides will transport you for a thrilling journey over rolling dunes deep into the heart of the desert. From the crest of a high dune, watch the sun cast its orange glow over the vast expanse of rippling sand all round you as it sets. Like a shimmering mirage in the distance you will see the flickering lights of your camp where a traditional Arabian welcome awaits you.

Day 12 – Abi Dhabi  – Canada
Breakfast at the hotel and then check out later you will be transferred to the Abu Dhabi International Airport for your flight back home.

You may cancel your booking at any time prior to commencement of the tour by notifying INDUS in writing, which must be signed by the person that signed the Reservation Form. Depending on the type/style of tour you have booked the cancellation charges will be as follows:

Cancellation is permitted more than 45 days prior to departure and only deposit will be retained

45 – 30 days prior to departure = 50% cancellation fee

29 – 15 days prior to departure = 75% cancellation fee

Less than 14 days prior to departure = no refund, 100% of tour price will be due
