Skypixel has emerged as the world’s most popular aerial photography community. Founded in 2014, Skypixel is today a leading global community for aerial photographers and videographers. It has over one million registered users and you can browse through thousands of aerial images and videos that are uploaded daily on Skypixel. It has become a huge platform for photographers from across the globe. Some of the best photos on Skypixel have received over 1 million views. Recently, Skypixel hosted the world’s largest aerial photography contest that received over 27,000 entries from 146 countries. The global competition went on for two months and concluded with the selection of a series of stunning aerial images as the top drone photographs of 2016. With a jury consisting of established photojournalists and prize-winning photographers, the contest was one of the biggest photo contests of the world. The 2016 SkyPixel Photo of the Year was won by a photo called “Fishermen close the net,” shot by Ge Zheng in Fujian Province in China. In this picture, reflections, colors and the unique aerial perspective create a startling composition from netting, poles and water.
For this winning entry, Zheng will receive a DJI Inspire 2, a DJI Mavic Pro, Epson Moverio BT-300 smart glasses, Epson SureColor P400 Wide Format Photo Printer and an Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan (1-year membership). Apart from the Grand prize, SkyPixel picked first, second and third place selections in three different categories – “beauty,” “360” and “drones in use.” Here are the winners in the ‘Professional’ category of these three sections!
