Kerala, ‘God’s Own Country’ is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations. As it happens, winter is the ideal time to visit this state; the weather is great for starters and there’s a lot you can do outside of the hotel room!

Kochi

Start your romantic sojourn at Kochi. Watch the sunset against the Chinese fishing nets, breathe in a little bit of Kochi along its famed Marine Drive and spend the day exploring Fort Kochi. If the excursions don’t interest you, Kochi is currently hosting the annual Cochin Carnival that will draw to a close only on January 1, which showcases Kerala’s unique culture in its own inimitable way.

Munnar

From here, head to Munnar, a four-hour drive (135 km) away. Famous for its tea and cardamom plantations, Munnar attracts several honeymooners all year round thanks to its pleasant weather. Whether the two of you want to relax (we know how exhausting weddings can be) or go on an adventure, Munnar offers you the option of both. You can go for a romantic stroll at the Echo Point or go trekking or if tickles your fancy, simply jump off a cliff in a paraglider. Munnar has expansive tea estates and a tea museum which encourages you to sample various types of tea. And if you have a wild streak in you, there’s also the Eravikulam National Park. When in Munnar, don’t miss eating these delicacies.

Thekkady

About 110 km from Munnar lies Thekkady and it will take you around three-and-a-half hours by road to reach here. When here, keep a day aside to explore the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, which is a tiger reserve and also home to wild elephants. Note that guides also arrange for night safaris, which are an experience in themselves! However, if you are looking for something more peaceful, take a boat ride in the Periyar Lake. The picturesque location makes for a romantic ride and the backdrop is just right for some candid shots. Just ensure you are carrying enough warm clothes.

Alleppey

Your trip to Kerala is incomplete without experiencing the backwaters of this coastal state. Drive from Thekkady to Alleppey in four hours (139 km) to take a cruise on a houseboat. The scenic beauty and romantic weather is sure to ignite some passion between the two of you. You can also soak in some history at the Krishnapuram Palace famous for its grand architecture and mural paintings. Also see these 10 mesmerizing photos of Alleppey.

Kovalam

After seeing the backwaters, head to the beautiful beaches of Kovalam. A four-hour drive from Alleppey, Kovalam with its white sand beaches of Kovalam and the breeze during winters makes this place perfect for couples to share some romantic moments. Relax on the lounge chairs or get flirty in the crystal clear waters. And if you two are in the mood for some adventure, take a surfing lesson on the waves.

Cost: A package of 5N/6D would cost you about Rs 12,000 per person without the flight tickets.
