1. Roshogolla
Roshogolla is made of semolina dough or the Indian Cottage Cheese. It is a soft and syrupy dessert which is very famous in the Bengali region.

2. Sondesh
Sondesh is a sweet delicacy made of milk, sugar and chenna which is the Indian cottage cheese. There are other versions of sondesh made with mawa, but the richness of this is unbeatable.

3. Chanachur
Chanachur is basically the ‘chivda, chevdo, bhuso’ etc in several other Indian languages. It is a combination of sweet, sour and spciy flavours and has ingredients such as lentils, peas, chickepea flour noodles etc.

4. Kosha Mangsho
This dish is basically a very spicy Bengali mutton curry. Along with the meat, there are a lot of poytatos in the dish which gives it a different flavour all together.

5. Chicken Kabiraji
It is a very famous non vegetarian snack in Kolkata. Deep fried chicken in gram flour, well marinated is something that makes for a perfect snack on most days.

6. Kochuri
This is a fried snack which has a stuffing of green peas stuffed into pooris made of wheat flour. Bengali kochris are not flaky like the Indian ones.

7. Puchka
Puchka is the Benagli name for Pani Puri which is a much enjoyed snack eaten all around India.

8. Ghugni
Mangsher ghugni is considered to be a trademark of Kolkata. It is a semi dried gravy made with black gram or dried yellow peas which is served with puffed rice (kurmura)

9. Macher Jhol
Macher jhol is the authentic fish curry cooked in mustard oil with the authentic spices and chillies along with the fish you wish to eat.

10. Kolkata Biryani
Kolkata has a major influence of the Mughals. The biryani here is pretty similar to the ones you’ll probably find in Lucknow or Hyderabad. Howevr there is a tinge of Kolkata in it.

11. Pitha
It is a dimsum type of bread made with rice flour. Cooking this delicacy is strongly associated to the harvest festival of West bengal.

12. Jhalmuri
This is the bhel that poeple can associate to in many parts of the country. However, it is made a little too sweet and a little too tangy in Kolkata. You’ll probably spot a vendor at a distance of less than a mile and if you do, stop and indulge into some jhal-mura
13. Mishti Doi
Misti doi literally translates to sweet curd. It is made with the process of thickening milk and sweetening it with brown sugar or date molasses.

14. Churmur
Churmur is one of the very local snacks prepared in Kolkata. It is made of potatoes, lentils, or chickpeas

15 . Telebhaja
Telebhaja translates to deep fried in oil. This can mean you can eat potatoes, onions etc or fish and chicken as a snack called telebhaja.
