Ten years ago, the DIRTYBIRD label coalesced around a grill party in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Those free parties, thrown using a sound-system bought on layaway, were pivotal in defining the DIRTYBIRD sound and attitude. Ten years later, DIRTYBIRD has proven to be one of North America’s most definitive and fun dance music labels, with its signature blend of techno and house, passed through a hip-hop crunkifier, still getting booties shakin’, sweat flying and underground connoisseurs nodding heads in approval.
The DIRTYBIRD family may take its music very seriously, but they are not serious people. The ethos underpinning the label has remained the same since those impromptu park parties – good times, good people, good food, and above all good jams. With VonStroke at the helm and ten years to celebrate, we can expect the core and expanding DIRTYBIRD family to be joining him on the road this summer, with some VERY special guests, and of course, the original DIRTYBIRD BBQ auteur, Grillson, to be fanning the flames behind the grill.
In 2015 DIRTYBIRD will be taking the BBQ experience to new cities like Seattle, Portland, Chicago and Denver, returning to familiar haunts like NYC, before concluding with their just announced DIRTYBIRD Campout. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, May 13th.

Befitting its ten-year anniversary DIRTYBIRD has started 2015 with some damn fine music. In January the label released its DIRTYBIRD 10 comp featuring new tracks from VonStroke, Justin Martin, Eats Everything, Catz + Dogz and more. DIRTYBIRD has since dropped a new EP from Shiba San, Bristol’s Will Clarke, and DIRTYBIRD newcomers Billy Kenny & Abby Jane and Claude VonStroke’s “Barrump” EP is due out mid May.
