TyreSafe has held an awards ceremony at which the UK’s Highways Agency was recognised for its efforts in raising public awareness of tyre safety.

Awards have been given out recently by the UK’s tyre safety organisation, TyreSafe at a ceremony held to honour those companies which had the most significant effect on tyre safety in the country.

At the top of the pile was the Highways Agency which was awarded for Outstanding Contribution towards road safety by raising the priority of tyre safety on its agenda through the promotion of the understanding of users about the importance of caring for and maintaining tyres in good conditions. The agency used social media as part of its campaign and also used variable message signs on the country’s road network to display tyre related safety messages to drivers on the move.

Other awards were given to companies which demonstrated outstanding work in promoting tyre safety. Award winners included the Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership, Ford, HiQ, the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Bedfordshire and Luton Casualty Reduction Partnership.

TyreSafe’s Stuart Jackson commented that there was a large sense of pride in judging the candidates which had worked very hard in creative ways to attract the attention of UK motorists. He went on to say that tyre safety remains a serious concern in the country and that having partners in extending the safety message is the only way to achieve its goals. The award ceremony was a gesture of acknowledgement of those partnerships and TyreSafe is looking forward to continuing to work closely with them in the future.
