Get excited Toyota truck enthusiasts. Toyota is redesigning America's best-selling compact pickup, the Tacoma, for the 2012 model year. It will be available at DCH Toyota of Oxnard, serving the greater Oxnard area, starting this fall.
If you're a Tacoma purist at heart, don't worry. Toyota is planning to retain the pickup's peppy, efficient powertrain. The Japanese automaker is focusing solely on revamping the exterior, interior and the entertainment system.
Unfortunately, Toyota has been pretty diligent about keeping exactly what those changes entail under wraps until closer to the truck's official launch. But, when they do reveal specs, DCH Toyota of Oxnard promises you'll be among the first to know.
Interested in getting a compact pickup, before the fall? Remember the popular 2011 Toyota Tacoma is still available. Starting at only $16,365, it offers a host of safety features, including: Star safety system, six standard airbags, available backup camera, electronically-controlled, and locking rear differential.
According to Bob Carter, Group VP and Brand Manager, Toyota, the compact pickup segment is important to the company, because it attracts young customers."1 Carter also contends that business could pick up again if petrol prices continue to soar. Evidence of Toyota's savvy decision to continue investing in the compact pickup segment, while two U.S. competitors stopped is the fact they sold more Tacoma pickups than they did larger, full-sized Tundra pickups, for the first two quarters of 2011.
