Toyota
may have only been manufacturing vehicles in Blue Springs, MS for five months
now, but that hasn't stopped it from quickly ramping up capacity. In fact, the
plant recently began its second production line shift, and the company plans to
be at full capacity soon. When this happens, the facility will have the ability
to yield about 150-thousand Toyota
Corolla vehicles each year.

Currently, the Blue Spring plant employs slightly
under 2,000 workers and produces vehicles 244 days a year. When it reaches full
production status, the plant is expected to make around 600 vehicles each day. The
amount of vehicles produced at this time wasn't released, but David Copenhaver,
Vice President of Administration for the plant, states, "Things are going
well. People work hard at the plant,"1 so we can
only assume the numbers are still impressive.

Next year, Toyota will create a
next-generation Corolla, which is currently the world's best-selling car in
history. Overall, there have been over 35 million Corolla vehicles sold. Every
day, the plant receives 92 semi-trucks full of parts to build the Corollas,
with 30 percent of parts imported from outside the state and seven key
suppliers in the area making up the rest of the supplies.

We're sure that Toyota will be
able to keep up with the high demand for its popular new
Toyota vehicles, and we're happy to see the company is
increasing jobs right here in the U.S.! For more information on all things Toyota,
