It's always nice when a highly acclaimed new Toyota model evolves into a highly acclaimed Toyota family. Such is the case with the Prius which was followed by the Prius v and efficient Prius Plug-In Hybrid. Now, to top off the lineup, the 2013 Toyota Prius C will join the family and Toyota Marin has all the latest details. You may be wondering how this is possible considering the automaker hasn't officially revealed the model. Well, that is true. However, thanks to a happy mistake, a Prius C brochure was leaked giving us a few early crumbs of information.

Officially slated to debut at the Tokyo Auto Show in December, the hatchback hybrid is much smaller than its family members with measurements of 157.3 inches long, 66.7 inches wide and 59.6 inches tall. At this point, its size is the most defining feature and said to compare with the existing Toyota Yaris. The Toyota Prius C will also stand out in a silky aqua blue coating. If you're one who would rather blend in on the road, never fear, it also comes in four other color variants.

Moving from the outside in, new Prius drivers will discover a conventional centre-mounted automatic-style gear shift and hand-operated brake. Yes, we know what you're probably thinking. Prius models usually now come standard with the Prius gear-selector and parking brake. Why change? Green Car Reports notes that the shift "makes Toyota's new hybrid a lot more conventional to drive and a whole lot less geeky."1 That's probably a good thing considering it will be marketed mainly to younger buyers concerned with look and efficiency.

Moving even deeper, the Prius C power will come from a 1.4-liter gasoline engine that delivers 74 horsepower at 4,800 rpm. The hybrid's electric motor is said to be capable of producing 45 kilowatts. In addition, the U.S. EPA has given the new model a 58-64 mpg fuel economy rating.

While waiting for the Toyota Prius C hybrid to be completely revealed, Toyota Marin invites you to test drive any of our other new Toyota models. Be sure to contact us online with any questions or stop by our location at 445 Francisco Blvd East San Rafael, CA. We'd love to talk with you in person.
