Hey all my dear friends! :) How are you all? Welcome to my blog on this Gaming Saturday! :D Let's play some nice games! :D

My final semester is also about to end. Final exams going on. Soon, I'll be a full-fledged Computer Engineer! Sounds cool, right? But I don't like the idea of leaving my home to a job somewhere. Damn! I have got a job in one of the largest IT companies of my country, but I'll have to go 2500 Km from home for that. First time away from home, and that too so far. Let's hope the experience be good. Anyways, there's still around 2 months for that. And in these super-busy exam days, let's chill with some cool Open Source Games! :D

Freedoom

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: http://freedoom.github.io/index.html

Description

The Freedoom project aims to create a complete free content first person shooter game. But Freedoom by itself is just the raw material for a game: it must be paired with a compatible game engine to be played. The download page lists some recommended ones.

id Software released the source code to their classic game, Doom, under the GNU General Public License. This means that the program code that powers Doom is free; Freedoom complements this with free levels, artwork, sound effects and music to make a completely free game.

Freedoom is actually three games in one, consisting of two single player campaigns and one set of levels intended for multiplayer deathmatch (FreeDM).

Freedoom contains hundreds of original textures, sound effects and music tracks that can be reused royalty-free by Doom level authors and other independent game developers.

Freedoom is liberally licensed under the BSD license - all that is required is that you include a short copyright statement that credits the Freedoom project.

Freeciv

OFFICIAL WEBSITE: http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Description

Freeciv is a single, and multiplayer, turn-based strategy game for workstations and personal computers inspired by the commercial proprietary Sid Meier's Civilization series. It is available for most desktop computer operating systems. Released under the GNU General Public License, Freeciv is free and open source software. The game's default settings are closest to Civilization II, in both gameplay and graphics (including the units and the isometric grid).

Players take the role of tribal leaders in 4000 B.C. who must guide their peoples through the centuries. Over time, new technologies are discovered, which allow the construction of new city buildings and the deployment of new units. Players can wage war on one another or form diplomatic relationships.

The game ends when one civilization has eradicated all others or accomplished the goal of space colonization, or at a given deadline. If more than one civilization remains at the deadline, the player with the highest score wins. Points are awarded for the size of a civilization, its wealth, and cultural and scientific advances.
