The St. Louis region’s first-ever articulated buses are coming to the #70 Grand Line in the next few weeks. The bus, made of two sections linked by a pivoting joint, provides a cost effective way for Metro transit to ease overcrowding on its busiest route.

Learn more about Metro’s new articulated buses while painting and turning it into a gigantic rolling work of art that will travel on the #70 Grand Line in St. Louis City. All ages are welcome to help turn the bus into a traveling work of art.

A colorful mural designed by The Firecracker Press in St. Louis will be painted on Metro’s new articulated bus. The murals will stay on the MetroBus will travel along the #70 Grand Line throughout St. Louis City.

Since Grand Avenue itself traverses such a varied and diverse stretch of St. Louis, it will feature a sampling of the notable civic landmarks, iconic buildings and prominent features of the Grand Avenue street-scape. The design in honor of Grand can be read North to South as it is features a warm color palette that is meant to evoke the warm summers and keep riders warm during the cold winters. The design will also prominently feature the slogan “It’s Grand!” across the top panels of the bus.

The 60-foot articulated bus vehicles will begin service on the #70 Grand Line starting June 9. These buses will accommodate nearly 25 percent more passengers than the 40-foot buses currently serving that route today. Everything is new inside the rebuilt vehicles from wiring to engines. The articulated bus vehicles are part of Metro’s ongoing effort to build a better transit system for the citizens of the St. Louis region.
