==General==

*The below is all written in the public manual for this game on Strawberry Bose's site.

*You are able to view the number of turns left and the effect of each status that you characters are affected by by pressing the L button on that character's turn.

*This will also display the number of turns left and the effect of the current field effect, if any

*You can also see the current field effect, its effect, and its duration simply by returning to the main battle menu

*You are able to view the number of turns left and the effect of each status that the enemies are affected by by choosing a single-target attack and pressing the L button during the target selection.

*If an enemy or a character already has a Variety or Permanent effect, reapplying the same Variety or Permanent effect, whether through the same spell or a different one, will have no effect.

**Exception: if Byakuren has 10 points in her Support Magic tree, you can overwrite/reset the durations of any effects by reapplying them. The number of turns will be reset as if the effect were just applied by the new caster.

==Types of effects==

There are four different types of status effects that can affect the battle.

* '''Permanent effects''' are the standard status ailments, sometimes called "badstats". Only one can be in effect on a target at a time.

* '''Variety effects''' increase or decrease the targets stats while in effect, or provide other buffs/debuffs such as elemental bonuses. Up to five can be in place on a target at a time

* '''Quick effects''' are one-turn-only effects that are indicated by an exclamation point (!) and wear off at the end of the turn. Any number of these can affect a target at a time.

* '''Field effects''' apply against allies and opponents until they wear off. Only one field effect can be in place at a time; a new one will overwrite the old one.

==Permanent==

*Only one permanent status effect at a time. If inflicted by another permanent effect while already having a permanent effects, it overwrites it.

*"Immobile" status effects turn evasion to 0 and all attacks will hit.

*"Action Restricted" status effects make some moves misfire (i. e. unable to be performed/nullified) and will display "Cannot Concentrate" icon, but the command itself will be selectable as usual.

*"Immobile," "Action Restricted," and "Mind/Spirit" status effects can be cured right before the character affected by it performs the selected move, since the status effect takes effect during the time the move is performed, not when the character selected the move.

*"Permanent" is referred in short as 永続.

*Status effects that cannot auto-recover will display 99 turns left and will display 99 turns left the next turn.

*Restriction (Restrict)

**Confusion

***Confusion: Spellcards will misfire (regular skills/attacks can be performed)

***Big Confusion: All skills will misfire (only the regular attack can be performed). Main moves: Confusion Technique (Satori)

**Blind: Regular attack and physical skills will misfire (magic skills can be performed). Main moves: Blindness Beak (Aya), Aura of Darkness (Byakuren)

**Silence: All magic skills will misfire (the regular attack and physical skills can be performed). Main moves: Stupefying Technique (Satori)

*Immobile (Disable)

**Paralysis: Performing moves is impossible. Evasion 0. Recovers automatically. Main moves: Bondage Technique (Satori)

**Sleep: Performing moves is impossible. Evasion 0. DEF is reduced by half. Usually recovers when attacked. Main moves: Sleepiness Beak (Aya), Hypnotism Technique (Satori).

**Petrification: Performing moves is impossible. Will not auto-recover, except through abilities that give an added chance of recovering at the end of each round. Evasion 0. Cannot be overwritten by other permanent status effects. If your whole party is affected by this, it will be treated as a defeat. If all enemies are affected by this, it will not yet be a victory. Main moves: Calastor Bite (Short Sword Skill), Jet Black Disease (Byakuren), Dark Galaxian (Byakuren)

*Mind Control Ailments

**Beserk: Cannot input commands, and the character will only do the regular attack. DEF, MDEF, and Evasion are halved. Main moves: Wave from Another World (Byakuren)

**Charm: Automatically attack party members and provide support for enemies. Will also use moves that cannot be chosen when enemies are under Control. Has a chance of disappearing when inflicted with physical damage. The target of the attack will be "corrected" when the charm disappears. Main moves: Strange Incense of Makai Butterfly (Byakuren), Strange Incense of Charm (Byakuren)

**Control: Control the enemy's movement. Different from charm, you select the enemie's movement. If you select "escape," the enemy will escape and be gone from the battle (you will get no EXP and other such things from that enemy). Some of the enemy's skills cannot be used while under control, and others may be available that otherwise are never used. Has a chance of disappearing when inflicted with physical damage, but the one that was formerly inflicted with control will still perform the move that was selected while under control. For the turn in which Control was inflicted, and also for when it disappears, the enemy will be able to use moves that cannot be selected while under control. Main moves: Powerful Mind-reading Technique (Satori), Temptation of Makai (Byakuren)

*Other - the following are not in any of the above 3 categories

**Poison

***Minute Poison: Deals a constant damage each time the turn ends. If you defeat the enemies or select to run away, when the turn ends it will still be counted as one turn in which poison damage is dealt. If you defeat the enemies or run away the same time as your last party member dies by poison, it will be treated as a defeat. If the difference between IND and RES is large, the poison will accordingly be more powerful. Main moves: Poisoning Technique (Satori), Poison Hand (Short Sword Skill), Poison Beak (Aya)

***Poison: Deals more damage than Minute Poison.

***Deadly Poison: Deals more damage than Poison. Main moves: added effect of slaughterers

***Lethal Poison: Deals more damage than Deadly Poison. Main moves: Added effect of El Moriya Nebimonite (Sanae Weapon), the status will stick indefinitely until it is overwritten by another permanent status effect or cured with a healing spell.

**Curse: Deal damage in an amount that is proportional to damage dealt to the enemy. If the IND was large the proportion increases. For recovery magic, damage is also dealt in an amount that is proportional to the damage recovered.

**Zombie: This can affect only those who are unable to fight (i. e. dead) and puts them into a control-like status. For this status effect, the one affected will be recovered to 1 HP, but it will not automatically recover. However, you are able to cure it as it is treated as a permanent effect and if you do so, it will be like a resurrection. Main moves: Cannot be used by player's side.

==Variety Status Effects==

*Only 5 kinds of variety status effects at a time. If a 6th variety status effect is added, it pushes out the oldest one (not necessarily the one with the fewest turns left).

**This happens at the end of the turn

**Reimu's barriers appear to be considered Variety effects, and thus can push excess Variety effects off at the end of the turn, even as they fade.

*If a buff and a debuff both affect the same stat, they will (usually) cancel each other out, even if other stats are affected by the buffs/debuffs.

**Does not apply to the Full Power/Sakuya UP/All UP/All DOWN buffs and debuffs

**A buff can only cancel one debuff.

**The relative strength of the buffs and debuffs doesn't matter here

**Byakuren's 25-point Support Magic Tree ability allows your buffs to overwrite debuffs on your character, instead of simply canceling them.

**Since Youmu's stances are treated as buffs, they also cancel/erase debuffs, and can be erased by a debuff that hits the appropriate stat (thus, PATK Down will cancel Asura Stance)

*For "Attack UP", "All UP", etc. buffs and the "PDEF Down", "Debilitate", "All DOWN", etc. debuffs, as long as the buffs and/or debuffs are not duplicates of one another, they can take effect on the same stats at the same time. Thus, you could stack PATK Down, Debilitate (PATK/MATK down), Magic Down (MATK/MDEF down), Physical DOWN (PATK/PDEF down) and All DOWN on the same opponent to completely cripple its offense. Use this to good effect to severely weaken the enemy.

**Exception: Up to three "Full Power" ("F") buffs can be in effect on the same character simultaneously, and do stack with the All UP from Sanae's and Sakuya's Last Words and the effect of Byakuren's Amplifying Scroll (which does NOT stack with Sanae's Last Word, but does with Sakuya's)

*The "Stop" variety effect may seem like a permanent but it is treated as a variety effect. Also, there is a Quick status effect also called "Stop" but that effect is different from the "Stop" variety effect.

===Good Variety===

*The "Frequency Restricted" status effects will have 99 times left and will display 99 times left the next turn.

*The "Bestow Element" status effects will overwrite any other different elemental bestowal already present..

*Buffs

**ATK UP (攻撃上昇): increases ATK for a number of turns. Moves: Wind of Sword (Sanae), Weapon Bless, etc.

**MATK UP (魔攻上昇): increases MATK. Moves: Wind of Prayer (Sanae), Spell Enhance, etc.

**DEF UP (防御上昇): increases DEF. Moves: Wind of Shield (Sanae), Armor Bless, etc.

**MDEF UP (魔防上昇): increases MDEF. Moves: White Thaumaturgy, etc.

**ACC UP (命中上昇): increases ACC. Moves: Wind of Arrow (Sanae), Never Fail, etc.

**EVA UP (回避上昇): increases EVA and Perfect Dodge. Moves: Wind of the Mind's Eye (Sanae), etc.

**RES UP (抵抗上昇): increases RES. Moves: Wind of Divine Protection (Sanae), Perfect Resist, etc.

**Perfect Resistance (完璧抵抗): increases RES, nullifies Dispel. Move: Perfect Resist (Byakuren)

**SPD UP (速度上昇): increases SPD. Moves: Haste (Byakuren), etc.

**IND UP (誘発上昇): increases IND. Moves: Hyper Trigger (Byakuren), etc.

**All UP (全上昇): increases all stats. Moves: Amplification Scroll (Byakuren), etc.

**HP UP (HP上昇): increases MAX HP. Move: Star Ceremony calling the Wind God

**Ayakashi Hermit (妖力大仙): increases Exorcism and ATK. Move: Ayakashi Hermit (Youmu)

**Self-Hypnosis (自己催眠): increases ATK, MATK, and IND, decreases DEF and MDEF. Move: Self-Hypnosis (Satori)

**↑to the Highest (最高に↑): after going to the Highest, all stats are drastically increased, and adds 100 Exorcism. Move: Sakuya's World (Sakuya's Last Word)

**F: increases all stats. Move: the "F" item from defeated enemies

**Deceased Aura (死者霊気): increases EVA and Perfect Dodge. Moves: Deceased Aura (enemy move)

**High-speed Flight (高速飛行): increases SPD, EVA, and Perfect Dodge. Moves: High-speed Flight (enemy move)

**Ether (エーテル): increases IND and ACC. Moves: Ether Dissemination (enemy move)

**Sake (酒): increases damage dealt, decreases damage received. Moves: Sake (enemy move)

**Physical Strengthening (物理強化): multiplies physical damage by 2. Moves: Hyper Weapon (enemy move)

**Magical Strengthening (魔法強化): multiplies magical damage by 2. Moves: Mana Flare (enemy move)

**Physical Protection (物理保護): halves all physical damage received. Moves: Hyper Armor (enemy move)

**Magical Protection (魔法保護): halves all magical damage received. Moves: Antimagic Shell (enemy move)

**Speedup (加速): increases ACC, EVA, and SPD, and gives 2 moves each turn. Moves: Speed-up (enemy move)

*Special Buffs

**Attack Strengthening (攻撃強化): increases damage by 50%. Move: Buddha's Stone Bowl -Indomitable Will- (enemy move)

**Defense Strengthening (防御強化): decreases damage by 50%. Move: Robe of Fire Rat -Patient Mind- (enemy move)

**Crab Armor (蟹鎧): increases RES and EVA, nullifies Dispel. Move: Crab Protector (enemy move)

**Memory Awakening (記憶覚醒): increases MDEF, nullifies Dispel. Move: Recalled Memory (enemy move)

**Change Strengthening (変化強化): strengthens the level of Variety statuses. Move: Wind of Miracle (Sanae)

*Elemental Bestowal

**Bestow Fire (火付与): Adds Fire element to physical attacks.

**Bestow Water (水付与): Adds Water element to physical attacks.

**Bestow Earth (地付与): Adds Earth element to physical attacks.

**Bestow Lightning (雷付与): Adds Lightning element to physical attacks. Moves (also for Fire, Water, and Earth): Elemental Weapon (Byakuren), Elemental Dictionary (Patchouli), Bullet Change (Nitori), etc. with selection.

**Bestow Light (光付与): Adds Light element to physical attacks. Move: Star Sword (Byakuren)

**Bestow Dark (闇付与): Adds Dark element to physical attacks. Move: Dark Sword (Byakuren)

**Bestow Mystic (魔付与): Adds Mystic element to physical attacks.

*Protective Wall

**Fire Protective Wall (火防壁): Adds 2 to Fire resistance

**Water Protective Wall (水防壁): Adds 2 to Water resistance

**Earth Protective Wall (地防壁): Adds 2 to Earth resistance

**Lightning Protective Wall (雷防壁): Adds 2 to Lightning resistance. Move (also for Fire, Water, and Earth): Elemental Shield (Byakuren) with selection

**Four Elemental Protective Wall (四大防壁): Increases resistance for Fire, Water, Earth, and Lightning. Move: Elemental Barrier (enemy move)

**Light Protective Wall (光防壁)

**Dark Protective Wall (闇防壁)

**Light Dark Protective Wall (光闇防壁): Adds 1 to Light and Dark resistance. Move: Sacred Barrier (Byaukuren)

**Mystic Protective Wall (魔防壁)

**Slash Protective Wall (斬防壁)

**Penetrating Protective Wall (突防壁)

**Physical Protective Wall (物理防壁)

*Reflection

**Physical Reflection (物理反射)

**Magical Reflection (魔法反射). Move: Reflection (enemy move)

**All Reflection (全反射): Reflects all moves. Move: The Thing that Reflects All (enemy move)

**Breath Reflection (息反射): Reflects breath attacks, nullifies "no reflection." Moves: Omnidirectional Azure Dragon Circle (Reimu), 吐息返し (Aya)

**Dolls' Generation (人形代): Reflects Magic, nullifies Physical. Move: Tenacity of Dolls' Generation (enemy move)

**Mirror of Resentment (怨念の鏡): Reflects Physical, nullifies Magic. Move: Mirror of Resentment (enemy move)

*Nullification

**Breath Nullification (息無効): Nullifies Breath attacks. Move: Omnidirectional Dragon Slaying Circle (Reimu)

**Physical Nullification (物理無効): Nullifies Physical attacks. Move: Duplex Barrier (Reimu) with selection, etc.

**Magical Nullification (魔法無効): Nullifies Magic Attacks. Move: Duplex Barrier (Reimu) with selection, etc.

**All Nullification (全無効): Makes all damage 0. However, it does not nullify the addition of permanent effects. This effect is pretty much just a lure. Move: Alice Guard

**Permanent Nullification (永続無効): Nullifies the addition of Permanent status effects.

**Change Nullification (変化無効): Nullifies the addition of Bad Variety status effects.

**Instant Nullification (瞬間無効): Nullifies the addition of Bad Quick status effects. Move (also for Permanent and Change): Evil Sealing Circle (Reimu) with selection

**Condition Nullification (状態無効): Nullifies the addition of Permanent, Variety, and Quick status effects. Move: Omnidirectional Demon Binding Circle (Reimu)

**Fire Nullification (火無効): Makes all Fire elemental damage 0.

**Water Nullification (水無効): Makes all Water elemental damage 0.

**Earth Nullification (地無効): Makes all Earth elemental damage 0.

**Lightning Nullification (雷無効): Makes all Lightning elemental damage 0. Move (also for Fire, Water, and Earth): Encompassing Tiger Stripe Circle (Reimu) with selection

**Light Nullification (光無効)

**Dark Nullification (闇無効)

**Mystic Nullification (魔無効)

**Four Elemental Nullification (四大無効). Moves: Encompassing White Tiger Circle (Reimu)

*Stances

**Human Realm Sword (人界剣): Increases ACC and Crit rate. Enables the usage of moves that require Human Realm Sword. Moves: Human Realm Sword Stance (Youmu)

**Deva Realm Sword (天界剣): Increases DEF and and EVA. Enables the usage of moves that require Deva Realm Sword. Moves: Deva Realm Sword Stance (Youmu)

**Asura Realm Sword (修羅剣): Increases ATK. Enables the usage of moves that require Asura Realm Sword. Moves: Asura Realm Sword Stance (Youmu)

**Conjoined (渾然一体): Increases Max HP. Enables the usage of moves that require Human Realm Sword, Deva Realm Sword, or Asura Realm Sword. Moves: Conjoined Stance (Youmu)

*Frequency Restricted

**Barrier (バリア): Makes all damage 0. Will not disappear with time - rather, it disappears with the number of times it protects. Moves: Leaf Shield, Starlight Barrier.

**Half-Ghost Defense (半霊防御): Deflects all attacks only once. This effect is pretty much just a lure. Move: Half-Ghost Defense (Youmu)

**Asura Super-Strength (修羅剛力): Makes the next attack critical. Move: Asura Super-Strength (Youmu)

**Optical Camouflage (光学迷彩): Nullifies all attacks only twice. Move: Optical Camouflage (Nitori)

*Other

**Spiritual Unison (精神統一): A charging move that makes the next enemy's skill fixed. Move: Spiritual Unison (enemy move)

**Store Power (力溜め): Multiplies ATK by 1.5. A charging move that makes the next enemy's skill fixed. Move: Store Power (enemy move)

**Concentrate Magic (魔力集中): Multiplies MATK by 1.5. A charging move that makes the next enemy's skill fixed. Move: Concentrate Magic (enemy move)

**Load Bomb (ボム充填): A charging move that makes the next enemy's skill fixed. Move: Load Bomb (enemy move)

**Inhale (吸息): A charging move that makes the next enemy's skill fixed. Move: Inhale

**W Bomb (Wボム): A charging move that makes the next enemy's skill fixed. Move: W Bomb

**Double Attack (連続行動): Do 2 moves in 1 turn. Increases all stats and HP by 25%. Move: Thunderclap Gale (Aya's Last Word)

**Berserker Soul (狂魂): Do 8 moves in 1 turn. When the enemy has it, DEF is reduced by 25% and ACC is reduced by 10%. Move: Beserker Soul (Yuugi)

**Lure (囮): Makes it more likely for the enemy to choose to target the one affected by this status effect. Move: Hourai Doll

===Bad Variety===

*The general name for bad Variety effects is "Change" (変化).

*Debuffs

**ATK Down (攻撃下降): Decreases Physical Attack. Main Moves: Lethargic Technique (Satori)

**MATK Down (魔攻下降): Decreases Magic Attack. Main Moves: Dark Sphere (Byakuren)

**DEF Down (防御下降): Decreases Physical Defense. Main Moves: Softening Technique (Satori)

**MDEF Down (魔防下降): Decreases Magic Defense. Main Moves: Star Sphere (Byakuren)

**ACC Down (命中下降): Decreases Accuracy. Main Moves: Hallucination Technique (Satori)

**EVA Down (回避下降): Decreases Evasion

**RES Down (抵抗下降): Decreases Resistance

**SPD Down (速度下降): Decreases Speed

**IND Down (誘発下降): Decreases Induction

**All Down (全低下): Decreases all stats. Main Moves: Omen in Purple Mist (Byakuren)

**Soften (軟化): Decreases Physical and Magic Defense. Main Moves: Meltdown (Byakuren)

**Weaken (弱体化): Decreases Physical and Magic Attack. Main Moves: Powerdown (Byakuren)

**Quagmire (泥沼): Decreases evasion, speed. Turns Perfect Dodge, Enclosing Barrier to 0. Main Moves: Quagmire Technique (Satori)

**Dull (鈍化): Decreases Accuracy and Evasion. Main Moves: Unquick (Byakuren)

**De-induction (不発化): Decreases Induction and Resistance. Moves: Unresist (Byakuren)

**Physical Down (物理下降): Decreases Physical Attack and Physical Defense.

**Magic Down (魔力下降): Decreases Magic Attack and Magic Defense.

**Gas Addiction (ガス中毒): Decreases Accuracy, Evasion, Speed. Turns Perfect Dodge, Enclosing Barrier to 0. Main Moves: Into Delirium, Valley of the Princess Lily (姫百合の谷間)

**Enervate (脱力): Decreases Physical Attack and Magic Attack. Main Moves: Enervate

**Mastication (噛み砕く): Decreases Physical Defense, Evasion. Turns Perfect Dodge, Enclosing Barrier to 0. Main Moves: Thousand Bites (Enemy Move)

**Crab Scissors (蟹鋏): Decreases Speed, Evasion. Turns Perfect Dodge, Enclosing Barrierto 0. Main Moves: Scissors (Enemy Move)

**Big Shock (大感電): Decreases Accuracy, Physical Defense. Main Moves: Litening Slash (イナヅマ切り), Added effect of plasma knives (short sword)

**Super-conductivity (超伝導): Decreases Magic Defense, Resistance. Main Moves: High Temperature Superconductor (Cirno)

*Weakening

**Four Elemental Weakening (四大弱化): Reduces fire, water, earth, and lightning resistance. Moves: Lick Around

**Fire Weakening (火弱化)

**Water Weakening (水弱化)
