Now that we’ve looked into the home decor trends that are predicted for the coming year, we can delve into the colours that are predicted to dominate home interiors in 2014.

While there seems to be a whole range of different colours and shades to look out for this year, one thing we won’t be seeing much of is beige. Home interiors in 2014 will be anything but boring beige.

 

Blues

2014 is looking like the year of the Blues and we’re talking all different shades of blue, from navy to cobalt to peacock blue. Blues will be the ultimate colour to use for making a statement in your home. Benjamin Moore has even chose a pale blue Breath of Fresh Air as their Colour of the Year 2014.

Dark & Moody

Ever considered black walls in your living room or bathroom? Well this is the year to experiment with something a bit more bold and dramatic. Black and other dark and moody shades will be a perfect complement to glamorous metallic accessories.

Earthy Colours

This style of colours will vary from shades of orange/red/brown that are influenced by tribal India, Morrocco or Africa. Then on the other end of the spectrum, earthy colours of green/blue/brown that reflects the natural elements of Earth.

Bright Pops

A recurrent theme for home interior design in 2014 seems to focus on being more experimental and having fun with colour. Expect to see more vivid pops of colour, ike a bright yellow, turquoise or lime, placed around the home. Whether that be in paint, furniture, wall art, cushions or decor accessories.

White Backdrops

With all these bold colours and warm shades going on in the home, white walls and furniture will act as a great backdrop for you to go crazy with these other types of patterns and colours that relate to the different home interior design styles and trends.

 

While there is a distinct variation between the types of colours here that have been predicted as trends for the year, they fit in perfectly with the prediction of home decor in 2014 becoming more personal and about finding a style that reflects your own personality.
