Summary:

Total-Fishing.com website attracting over 55,000 unique users a month.

When I reported on record traffic for Total-Fishing.com of over 40,000 monthly unique users a couple of months ago, I didn't realise that it was the start of a dramatic upturn in traffic that continues apace.

As I write there have been over 57,000 unique users over the last month which is is not only a record for the site by a very big margin, but also something I'm personally very pleased with. As many of you know I run Fishing TV as well, but I work hard to keep Total-Fishing fresh and especially on the angling news side where I feel Total-Fishing.com is particularly strong.

The server upgrade a few months ago has also clearly had an effect - it's not cheap but the side it faster than it's ever been and that makes it easy to use and navigate. We have also found a way of making the site available and embedded into our Facebook pages (see http://www.total-fishing.com/phpbbforum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=63563 )- if any manufacturers out there want to know how, drop me an email or a PM at advertising@total-fishing.com .

Overall many thanks for using Total-Fishing.com, which is one of the busiest angling sites there is, and I hope you continue to enjoy it.

Fish Go On The Feed In Warmer Weather
Warm weather has brought fish onto the feed resulting in some seriously big match weights. At Packington Somers the venue match record came within a pound of being broken when Wayne Carter weighed in 177-3-0 – a bag of F1s taken on pellet fished up in the water from peg 60 on Molands Mere. Over at Docklow there is a new match record for the venue’s Stock Pool, Steve Greaves taking 205-9-0 to the scales and again fishing pellet up in the water, from peg 20. And it wasn’t just the carp having a munch – on Birmingham’s Earlswood Lakes Kevin Tipton took a 79-6-0 bag of bream in Sunday’s match which follows hot on the heels of an 84lb bag three weeks ago to Scott Smith (son of Clive Smith) from Smithy's Angling Centre, which is probably a venue record – all on feeder and worm from peg 54, while on the Birmingham Fazeley Canal at Curdworth, Martin Lane had and excellent 21-7-0 of skimmers to easily win the Stirrup Cup match. Meanwhile in two matches over the last week at Tunnel Barn Farm, the top six all weighed in well over 100lb.

Carp Proves The Difference on Birmingham-Worcester Canal
A 9lb carp proved the difference in the latest open match fished on the Worcester-Birmingham Canal at Perdiswell in which Good Intent’s Gary Owen added a few roach on caster for a winning 12-13-4 from peg 70. Lee Davis produced the best silver fish weight of the day, getting his head down at 11 metres on the pole with a squatt approach for 8-11-11 for second spot. The match attracted 26 anglers and Gaz Kirkham is running another open on the stretch in a fortnight’s time – he can be contacted on 07545 569811.

Jenny Hamlington Memorial 2013
Tunnel Barn Farm Fishery is holding a random pairs match in memory of Jenny Hamlington and departed friends of the Shrewley venue. Jenny and Mike Hamlington built the fishery together over the years from a small pond which became the Bottom Pool, to the eight-lake complex we can fish today. Several tackle firms have got behind the event including Browning, fishery sponsor Garbolino, Leeda, Middy, Tubertini and Bag ‘Em Baits, and as a result there will be some excellent raffle prizes on offer during the day. The cost for the Tuesday July 9th 2013 match is £10 per person all-in, with an optional £10 super pool for those who wish to enter it. Pairs will be allocated on a random basis once everyone has drawn their peg, with the draw at 9am and fishing 11am to 4pm. Proceeds will go to the Renal Unit in Solihull Hospital for the fantastic level of care they gave Jenny over the years and to Marie Curie Care. More information at enquiries@tunnelbarnfarm.co.uk or call 07770 657375.

Larford Lakes Opens
Larford Lakes has kicked off with a series of midweek and weekend open matches which will run throughout the summer at the Stourport venues. Every Wednesday there will be a 1pm to 6pm match with the draw at 11.30pm fished either on the Match lake or the Specimen Lake depending on the number of anglers. Most weekends will also see an open, and these will run until September 15th – check with the fishery by calling 01299 829373 or 07774 703067. There was a match on the Specimen Lake last Monday, which saw the top two both weighing in over 100lb. Winner on the day was Gary Elleet, who draw peg 76 where he fished bomb and pellet for 112-12-0. Fishery owner Phil Briscoe was second from peg 82 with 105-6-0. Phil caught fish early on bomb and pellet, but later switched to dead maggot over groundbait in the margins where he found big fish lined up. He landed carp to 15lb, but lost six more double figure fish, one of which would have won him the match.
