Tracker DescriptionWaffles is one of the best music trackers in the world. It exists for 7 years now, and it was created from the ashes of OiNK - Oink's Pink Palace 2004- 2007 Was a prominent BitTorrent tracker which operated from 2004 to 2007. Following a two-year investigation by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), the site was shut down on 23 October 2007, by British and Dutch police agencies. These music industry organisations described OiNK as an "online pirate pre-release music club", whereas former users described it as one of the world's largest and most meticulously maintained online music repositories. About a month before the shut-down, music magazine Blender elected OiNK's creator, British software engineer Alan Ellis, to their The Powergeek 25 — the Most Influential People in Online Music list. Alan Ellis was tried for conspiracy to defraud at Teesside Crown court, the first person in the UK to be prosecuted for illegal file-sharing, and found not guilty on 15 January 2010.Currently they have 280,000 / 307,000 torrents indexed which would make any music lover go crazy. To that collection they add hundreds each day.At Waffles the main content that can be found is, indeed, music. But other neat stuff can be found, also, such as Apps for both Windows, Mac and Linux; Audiobooks and E-books and of course E-learning Videos.Since music nowadays can be found in all sorts of formats, Waffles offers a very large range itself. For the people that like HQ music, you should know that that's where Waffles is best. Plenty of FLAC can be found on Waffles, but the tracker has a special category for the best of the best. It's called The Waffle Iron , and each torrent labelled as such is expected to be of the finest quality.A lot of people are categorizing Waffles as hard-to-seed tracker, and I couldn't agree more. But, despite that is really easy to maintain a ratio. Considering that everybody is allowed to upload, there shouldn't be any troubles keeping a nice ratio. Tracker Features:

Waffles Staff Picks - Staff Picks monthly music - these are simply albums by bands that Waffle Staff love, you find something you enjoy as well. Note that each pick may be an individual track, or an entire album (for the purpose of the theme). In every case, however, the entire album will be FreeLeech!

Advance Search Engine - Album, Year, Artists, Tags, Desc, formats, etc.

Iron Quality - The Waffle Iron seal is simply about confidence that the rip is a 100% exact audio copy. It is an addition to existing waffles.fm rules on what FLAC torrents can (or can not) be replaced or duplicated. It is marking the elite rips for a more pleasant lossless downloading experience. Further more, we take very seriously the task of educating others on how and why to properly rip so that they (and others) can have the utmost confidence that the rips of their CD collection are exact audio copies.

FreeleechAlso Waffles doesn't ignore it's low bandwidth users. They have a total of 678 freeleech torrents, that can be grabbed in order to raise the ratio. They can be found labelled with this icon. But the real trick for having a good ratio at Waffles is waiting for the Sitewide Freeleech. Recently they've added a new promotion which states that when a certain donation limit is reached they will unleash a Sitewide Freeleech that lasts for 24 hours. On top of that, everyone who donates the same day the limit is reached gets another 24h of freeleech. The global freeleech is 2/3 times per year or if some one very very super reach user will purchase global 24 hour freeleech,

Forums
RulesIntroduction

We want you to feel at home here, so to help you get started and feel more comfortable as a new member of the Waffles community, we've compiled this brief yet informative guide to a few important rules, recommendations, and community-based perks and activities, as well as numerous links to helpful tips, tricks, and tutorials located in our forums.Essentials

Understanding the Rules

First and foremost, it is of great importance that you thoroughly read and understand all of our Fundamental Rules. Breaking any of these rules will result in a permanent account ban. It is also essential that you study and comprehend our General Discussion Rules before posting in the forums, as well as our General Uploading Rules, including all of the specific details in each category (Music, Application, Component, Audio Book/related,eBook/related, and E-Learning), before uploading any of your own content to the site. All of these rules are conveniently located in Site Docs, which also includes our FAQ.Introducing: Ratio

Waffles is all about sharing and introducing new things to a community. To complement this perspective, uploading and downloading revolves around a ratio system. The ratio system requires you to have shared (uploaded) a certain amount of data, as determined by the amount of data you have downloaded at that time. This fluctuating system does not kick in until you have downloaded at least 5 GB. However, it is highly recommended that you use that buffer to your advantage, rather than digging yourself into a hole. Your personal ratio can be found in the top right of the header (rounded number), as well as in your profile (exact). A comprehensive table, detailing the ratio requirements for all specific downloading tiers, can be found by clicking the word "Ratio". Information concerning the automated ratio watch system can also be found there. It is very important that you read and understand this information, as failing to maintain a proper ratio may result in your inability to download new torrents in the future.Quality Matters!

Here at Waffles, we pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of quality assurance and control. For example, lossless (FLAC) music torrents can be submitted (by the uploader) to our very own Waffle Irons. Their Seal of Approval signifies confidence that the rip is a 100% exact audio copy. We highly encourage you to spend some time learning the most reliable and preferred methods of ripping and converting audio. Links to many useful guides and tutorials have been included below.Points and Awards

To help encourage content sharing and participation in Waffles' community contests and events (internal and external), we have devised Waffles points and forum awards! Points can be earned through partaking in many basic site activities, such as uploading, snatching (downloading), seeding, and becoming a Power User. Other methods for earning points include filling a request or getting an upload approved by the Waffle Irons. Waffles points can be saved and "spent" on various things in our shop, including specific site features (Top 10, Power Search, beta access), invites, and limited leeching benefits. A list of all the known forum awards (and their denotations) can be found in Site Docs.Distinguishing Yourself

Before you dive into the forums to meet and greet your fellow Wafflers, be sure to find yourself a cute and/or delicious avatar. Although these terms may seem reasonably subjective, most of us can surely agree that playful puppies, a newborn kitten, and plush stuffed llamas are all quite cute, whereas monster trucks and scantily clad girlfriends may not be. Similarly, pineapple upside-down cake and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies are great examples of delicious edibles, while a fire hydrant or an intricate rendering of your username are likely not. Please also keep in mind, when deciding on your Waffles persona, that all static avatars must have a maximum width and height of 400px, and a maximum size of 50kb (200kb for animated avatars). You are free (and encouraged) to be creative, but we request that you to do so within these basic guidelines.Help and Friendly Conversation

As a new Waffles member, you are also welcome and encouraged to join our IRC channels for relaxed chat/discussion (#waffles.fm), or if you are in need of general help from a Waffles staff member (#waffles.fm-help) or specific help from the Waffle Irons (#waffles.fm-flac). More information on setting up your IRC client and joining our member channels can be found here (Windows) and here (OS X).Tips and Tricks

The Right Torrent Client

Finding the right torrent client for creating and seeding torrents is a must. Many clients (or versions of clients) are banned from use at Waffles, for one reason or another. It is highly recommended that you download and use one of the following reliable torrent clients: µTorrent (Windows/OS X),Transmission (OS X/Linux), KTorrent (Windows/OS X/Linux), or rTorrent (OS X/Linux).Parking Your Account

You have the ability to "park" your account if you are going to be away from Waffles for an extended period of time. This feature can be found near the top of your profile edit page (located next to your username, in the header). Please be forewarned that if you do not log into Waffles for 6 straight weeks and you have not "parked" your account, it will be disabled automatically.Quick Downloading/Bookmarking (and Sorting)

You also have the ability to download and bookmark torrents using the icons next to each torrent name on the browse page. Furthermore, both browse and bookmarks can be sorted by clicking on the various headings and icons found in their respective headers (e.g., Type, Name, Year, etc.).Advanced Searching

The Power Search feature is only available to Power Users (and above), or those who have chosen to purchase it in the shop. However, Advanced Search Operators (available for viewing in Site Docs) are available for all users, and may make browsing and searching torrents much more convenient, especially if you prefer to browse torrents within a specific set of parameters.Creating Quality Torrent Descriptions

As mentioned above, the quality of content included in all uploaded torrents is of the utmost importance to Waffles' members and staff. Thus, you are urged to create a description for each of your torrents that is fitting of the content within. Album artwork, reviews, and links to audio samples are appreciated by all, and will likely make your torrents more appealing to those who are thinking of trying something new. The WaffleBrainz script is a great tool to help you get started.Utilizing Requests

Requests can be made for specific content that isn't already available on Waffles. Always be sure to search the requests before and/or after uploading a torrent. This may help you decide what to upload and/or allow you to fill another user's request, which will earn you some points (and, logically, upload credit). To fill a request, just enter the full URL of the torrent into the available field (located at the bottom of the request) and press the "Fill Request" button.Reporting Rule Violations

If you come across a torrent, request, or forum post that you believe is breaking one or more of the rules, you may report it to staff by clicking "Report it" (on the torrent or request's details page) or "Report Post" (in the forums). A staff member will review your report and the appropriate action will be determined and taken.Exploring the Site Log

The site log serves as a record of all torrents and requests added, deleted, edited, and filled, within the previous two-week period. If you receive a PM in your inbox, stating that one (or more) of your torrents has been deleted, yet you are not sure why, you are strongly encouraged to search the log before sending an inquiry to a staff member.Freebie vs. Fiasco

From time to time, certain torrents are made free leech for all users. This means that any data downloaded does not count toward your total ratio, whereas any uploaded data is calculated in the usual manner. Free leech torrents are indicated in two very specific ways: on the browse page, abomb icon will be present next to the torrent's name; on the torrent's details page, a bright red banner will be present stating "This torrent is free leech!" Conversely, many very large torrents have been marked with a "Ratio Killer" banner on their respective details pages. As a new user, you would be ill advised to download any of these torrents as they are almost guaranteed to cause you irreparable ratio damage.Improving Your Ratio

If, at any time, you do find yourself on (or beyond) ratio watch, there are many things you can do to help reverse your unfortunate situation. SilentFury has conveniently compiled the most useful suggestions/recommendations in this forum thread. New users are also encouraged to read and follow these tips, as they are sure to be helpful in your initial quest to build a positive ratio.Fundamental Rules

Breaking these will get you permanently banned

Do not defy the expressed wishes of the staff.Staff have wide discretion over how to handle rule violations.

Only one account per person is allowed.

Do not attempt to trade this account.

Do not attempt to trade your invites to this site; also, do not offer invites in public forums etc.

Do not sell invites to this site. If caught, both the seller and the buyer will be banned, along with the person who invited the seller.

Do not attempt to cheat your ratio! If caught, you will lose your account, and your inviter will lose the ability to invite.

Do not upload our .torrent files to any other trackers, or people. Every .torrent file has your personal passkey embedded in it. This doesn't prohibit you sharing the content on other sites, just the .torrent file.

Do not add multiple tracker URLs to your Waffles torrents. This is called cross-seeding and is considered cheating.

Every user is required to keep an acceptable share ratio. If you can't contribute, you shouldn't be here. This means the relation of downloaded data to uploaded data must be equal or higher than the ratio requirement for your level of download.

Accounts are deleted if they are left for longer than 42 days. If you are going to be away and not able to access your account for a long while please park your account!

Exploiting bugs will result in an immediate ban. If you find a bug, please report it to a staff member.

If your torrent software forges another client, you will be automatically banned.

If a donation is reversed, you, your inviter, and possibly your invitees will be banned permanently. We will also share this information with other trackers who accept donations.

Inviting a user who has been banned will result in the user's account, along with your own, being permanently banned.

Attempting to fake logs (torrent or otherwise) will result in a permanent ban on the first offense.

Sharing accounts will result in a ban. This also counts if you make your RSS data/links publicly accessible.

If you have any issues with the site or staff, send any inquiries via a staff PM. They are to be handled as private matters. Complaining publicly will only make matters worse, and is considered a punishable offense.

General Discussion Rules

If you choose to have an avatar, it must be delicious (food) or cute (stuffed animal, pet, etc. "Hot chicks" etc. don't count). If it does not pass the 5 Year Old Test, it is not a suitable avatar. Additionally, avatars must have a maximum width and height of 400px, and a maximum size of 50kb for static, and 200kb for animated. As a rule of thumb, if you're unsure whether your avatar choice is within the rules or not, pick a different one.

No aggressive behavior, flaming, excessive profanity, racism, sexism, bigotry, intolerance, or hate-mongering. Users should remain kind and courteous to other users, at all times. If you feel that a post should be deleted for whatever reason, please use the 'Report Post' button.

No posting of NSFW (Not Safe For Work) material, or links to such material. That includes all kinds of pornographic, violent and generally disturbing pictures.

No trashing/de-railing of any topic, by way of deliberately steering it off-topic or by spamming.

Please refrain from advertising your uploads in the forums. However, posting a link to your own relevant upload when replying to a 'Recommendation' thread is allowed.

Think before you post. Posters who frequently post replies that consist of only emoticons, catch-phrases, "lol"/"wtf"/"OK", or are unhelpful ("Use the search next time!") will be warned.

No /b/ or *chan stupidity. Period. Keep it to the *chans. (memes, inb4 *, etc.) Also, refrain from creating useless threads/posts.

Absolutely no discussion of illicit drug pricing, buying/selling, or manufacturing. Discussion of recreational, moderated, and safe use is encouraged.

Before starting a new thread, please make sure it doesn't exist already by using the search function. For site-related questions, also make sure that you read the Rules and FAQ thoroughly before starting a new thread.

No language other than English is to be used on the forums, comments, or Staff PMs.

Please post using correct punctuation, grammar, spelling, and without overusing emoticons.

Absolutely no outright bumping of threads. Users who needlessly bump threads will be warned.

No excessive quoting, especially when it includes pictures. Ensure that you quote only the important part.

Please refrain from posting excessively large pictures whenever possible.

No invite selling, trading, offering, or begging. Selling or trading invites will get you permanently banned.

The buying, selling, trading, begging for, or giving away of goods or services is strictly prohibited - This is NOT eBay or craigslist.

Do not post any type of referral link. These are links that when clicked, the user can possibly gain something like an iPod, commission, referral bonuses, etc. This includes scam sites such as lockerz or other pyramid schemes. Any user posting such links will be banned with no chance of repeal. Similarly, Waffles is not your personal voting army.

No requesting or posting of serials, keygens, cracks, passwords etc.

Please try and ensure that you post threads in the correct section. (For example, posts requesting help should be posted in the Help section)

Dissemination of personally identifiable information (names, photographs, Facebook profiles, addresses, etc) without the permission of all involved parties is prohibited. Depending on the severity and intent, you could be banned.

General Uploading Rules

Do not upload if you don't intend to share at least one full copy.

We recommend staying on the torrent until there are a few other seeders, and not to leave when there is just one other peer.If one of your torrents has been deleted, take a look at the LogAre non-music uploads allowed?

Only music, applications, eBooks, e-learning, sheet music, comics, audio books, and components are allowed. No games, movies, music videos etc...What music formats can I upload?

Only the following file formats are allowed:

For lossy audio: .MP3, AAC*

For lossless audio: .FLAC

For MultiChannel audio: .AC3 & .DTS (both lossy), .FLAC (for all lossless)

Can I convert from one lossy format to another and upload it?

Lossy-to-lossy and lossy-to-lossless transcodes are not allowed, and you must take precautions not to upload them. You may not convert from one lossy format to any other format. This includes ripping from an audio CD (CD-R) that was burnt using lossy files.Examples: 192 kbps CBR MP3 -> 220 kbps V0 MP3, 320 kbps CBR MP3 -> 220 kbps V0 MP3, 320 kbps CBR MP3 -> FLAC.Can I upload an Album that was mastered lossy?

If an album is lossy-mastered, and if there is no better quality available, you may upload it after getting permission from staff. Send a staff PM and supply proof that the CD is indeed lossy-mastered. Do not upload unless/until you have obtained permission from staff. If you upload a transcode without such prior permission, it may be deleted, and you may be warned, just as for any other transcode, even if your upload would have been allowed if you had asked first. Can I upload a release with mixed bitrate encodes (a mutt rip)?

Tracks of music uploads must be of the same source, and encoded with the same settings/encoder.Example: 4 tracks encoded with FhG at 192 kbps CBR and 12 tracks encoded with LAME at 225 kbps average are not allowed. They should be either 16 tracks with same settings FhG, or all of them with LAME. There must also be no sourcing releases from multiple different sources.Vinyl sources must also not be mixed in with CD sources, even if using the same bitrate/preset and encoder. Can I upload a multi-track release as one single file?

Multi-Track Albums/Singles must not be ripped as one file. Each track must be a separate file. The only exceptions are House/Dance/etc. albums and samplers where tracks fade into each other, as long as a .cue file is included. You do not have to include a .cue file for rips from mixes that were released as one single file, but you have to supply proof in the torrent description that the release really is a single file, or it may be removed for lacking the .cue file.Note: Lossless rips of this nature can be trumped by a multi-track rip of the same release, provided it is WI-approvable.What should I do if I find a torrent that breaks the rules?

We're not psychic. If you find a bad torrent then report it - there is a "Report it" link on each torrent details page. In doing so, you contribute a very large part in maintaining the high quality standards we strive for here at Waffles. :)Type and source ripping rules

Breaking these will result in a two week warning the first time and a loss of privileges on the second

What type of music releases are allowed?

Albums, EPs, LPs, CDM, CDs, promo-CDs.

Box sets may also be allowed, but only if they have been commercially released at some point. Box sets must contain files of the same bitrate, from the same source, and with the same file type.

iTunes-exclusive releases are the only allowance for AAC. The release must be iTunes-Plus (in order to meet bitrate requirements), mustcome straight from iTunes to Waffles (no transcoding, adding/deleting tracks, etc. Fixing tags is the only allowance here) and must be the full release - not just exclusive bonus tracks on their own. All iTunes bonus tracks/exclusives are identified as such in the iTunes store. The release must not be available for retail sale anywhere other than iTunes. It may also be trumped at a later date, if it gets released under a regular format.

Keep in mind that iTunes releases have personal information embedded within them. We do not require you to remove this info; that is up to you. We just want you to be aware of this fact. If you want to remove the info, this guide will help.

Music uploads of the following types are not allowed

Discographies, audience recordings, webrips, internet radio, video game sourced (Guitar Hero, Rock Band, DJ Hero, etc.), and self/fan/user-made compilations. (includes Beatport compilations)

Individual tracks, unless officially released as such (e.g., CDS, promo disc, pre-release, etc.). Proof of source, in the form of a link and/or disc scan, must be included in the torrent description, or your torrent will be deleted.

There are no exceptions to these rules.

Where are releases allowed to be sourced from?

CD, vinyl, web-downloads, SACD and DVD-Audio.

The source has to have been professionally recorded, or commercially sold.

You must not produce an upload from more than one source.

Music uploads ripped from the following sources are not allowed

Concert or radio-recordings, pre-broadcast tapes, Karaoke files (CD+G type), Interview discs (non-music), etc...

Exceptions:

Tapes may be uploaded if they have never been released in any other format. However, the upload must be approved by staff first!

Recordings made direct from the soundboard at a concert are also allowed, but they must be approved by staff first.

Release files, folders and description rules

Breaking these will result in a two week warning the first time and a loss of privileges on the second

What happens if I misrepresent the quality of one of my uploads?

Misrepresenting the quality of your files will result in the deletion of the torrent on the first violation, a warning on the second, and loss of privileges on the third! What tags must audio have?

Music files must be tagged properly, depending on the file format that is used.Minimum required fields are:

Artistname, Albumtitle, Year, Tracktitle, Tracknumber.

Please use common sense when naming and tagging your uploads. Keep the tags clean, and do not add things like Advance or Promo to the Artistname. If you need software to tag your files, take a look at the Links section of the site. How should audio files be named and organized?

Audio files must be named properly.

Examples: "04-Artistname-Song.mp3" or "04 Song.mp3"

Filenames like "Track4.mp3" or "4.mp3" are not allowed. Minimum is "Tracknumber" and "Tracktitle".

Only exception to this are scene releases.

Scene releases must be left intact, including NFO/SFV/M3U files.

Folders and files should not be renamed. The torrent name should contain the full name of the release.

Example: Artist-Album_(Proper)-2007-RNS

If you chose to alter the release, then do not label the upload as scene.

The folder name must not be "Artist" on its own, unless the "Artist" folder also contains an "Album" folder.

The folder name should preferably not be "Album" on its own.

We highly recommend:

"Artist - Album" or "Artist - Album (Year)"

Archives (.ZIP, .RAR, etc.) and images (.ISO, .BIN, etc.) are not allowed.

Music torrents must contain 1 or more folders with the music files inside.

Separate torrents like "CD1" & "CD2" for a double-disc album are not allowed. They must be uploaded as one torrent, clearly named as containing 2 discs. The discs must be organized in 1 of 2 ways: either in separate sub-folders for each, or by adding the disc number to the filename.

Music torrents must be folders containing the music files.

If possible, include album covers, a .log, a .cue, and an .m3u playlist in the torrent.

Music uploads which originally consist of multiple CD's or Vinyl discs in one release, must be uploaded within one torrent.

What should and should not be in my torrent description?

All music torrents must contain a complete tracklisting within the description.

Simply pasting a .log or a picture of the tracklist isn't allowed. It must be normal text.

We highly recommend putting the name of the encoder that made the rip inside the description (e.g. FHG, LAME, Xing).

Please make the descriptions of your uploads as informative as possible, however, do not:

Advertise other filesharing sites within your torrents.

Include superfluous userbars/banners in the description.

Do not label your uploads in the torrent-title with your name, [REQ] or similar (please use the Request system instead). You can add yourself in the description, or an .nfo file. Scene uploads however must be labeled the way they were released.

For lossless vinyl rips, the bit depth & sample rate used must be included in the description.

Lossy quality rules

Breaking these will result in a two week warning the first time and a loss of privileges on the second

In short: DO NOT upload unless your release is significantly higher quality than one currently available at a similar file size. When somebody uploads a better quality copy of your release at a similar file-size, yours will be deleted! If you need software to check for bitrates, presets and encoder info, look at the Links and read some tutorials in the Shed section of the forums.Remember! If you are not sure about uploading something post in the Help forum or ask for help on our IRC Channel BEFORE going ahead with the upload. You're better safe than sorry. What encodes are always allowed on the site?

The following encodes are always allowed:

MP3 V0

MP3 V2

MP3 320 kbps CBR

FLAC with Log/Cue

These are always allowed as long as the same doesn't exist already. If you need any help creating any of these releases why not check out these guides: (Mac) (Win)Can an encode with a bitrate of below 192 kbps be uploaded?

All music uploads must have an AVERAGE or CONSTANT bitrate of at least 192kbps, regardless of format/source.The only exceptions:

MP3 encodes using V0 or V2 VBR presets which dip below 192kbps average bitrate.

Comedy (Spoken Word) and Audio Book uploads (see specific rules below)

Can a V2 MP3 encode be uploaded when there is already a V0 MP3 encode?

Yes, a V2 is allowed to coexist with a V0.Why is this allowed?

The purpose of this is because you cannot encode a V0 to a V2 without loss of quality, and V2 is often convenient for those that have lower capacity mp3 players. When else can an encode be uploaded?

If there is a 192 kbps release and somebody uploads a 320 kbps release (or a V0 release) they will both be allowed to co-exist. However, if a V2 release was uploaded the next day then it would cause the 192 kbps release to be deleted (since the file-size of the V2 would be similar to that of the 192 kbps release whilst also being higher quality).

Likewise, a 256 kbps release will be deleted upon a v0 release being uploaded (since the file-size of the v0 would be similar to that of the 256 kbps release whilst also being higher quality). If the 256 kbps release was CBR then it could be deleted upon either a 320kbps release being uploaded or a v0 being uploaded. However, if the 256 kbps release was VBR then it could only be deleted upon a V0 release being uploaded (since some people would prefer a 256 kbps VBR release to a 320 kbps CBR release).

A V0 will replace a V1 torrent.

From LAME v3.94 onwards, APX was updated and became known as V0, and APS was updated and became known as V2. We allow APX and APS (previous to LAME v3.94) however, if V0 was uploaded it would make APX a dupe, and in the event that V2 was uploaded it'd make APS a dupe.

FhG/Xing rips will be replaced by LAME rips. Waffles member jetthe has provided a Encoder Duping Flowchart, that should make understanding the duping rules of different encoder MP3 releases much clearer.

Examples:

ALLOWED: Uploading MP3 V2 when MP3 V0 exists. (V2, V0, 320, and FLAC with Log&Cue can always exist)ALLOWED: Uploading MP3 V2 when MP3 192 kbps VBR/CBR exists. (The MP3 192 kbps VBR/CBR will be deleted)When can I dupe an upload already on the site?

If you upload a higher quality rip which beats a previous upload, please report the old upload with a note that you uploaded a higher quality version and include a link to your torrent. Waffles member jetthe has provided a Lossy Duping Flowchart, that should make understanding the duping rules of lossy releases much clearer. Can I dupe a lossy release by uploading one with a Log?

Do not upload an existing torrent of the same quality just because yours includes a Log file.Lossless quality rules

Breaking these will result in a two week warning the first time and a loss of privileges on the second

These must be studio releases. Personal upmixes are not allowed.

Tracks must be split like any other album, with the same exceptions applying.

Breaking these will result in a two week warning the first time and a loss of privileges on the second

Do I have to virus-scan applications before I upload them?

It is your responsibility to verify that your upload is safe for others to download. If you upload infected software, you will be banned for a minimum of 2 weeks on the first offense, 6 months on the second, and permanently on the third. Can I upload an application pack?

Application packs are not allowed. The only exception to this rule is if the applications were commercially sold together in a pack. Absolutely no 0-day packs and/or video utility compilations, Rosetta Stone packs, etc.Can I upload customized operating systems?

No.Can I upload free applications?

No.Can I upload cracks, serials, or keygens on their own?

What do you consider as ‘duplicate’ when removing applications?

For applications, a system of scoring shall be used to determine quality. If two uploads are identical, the newer upload will be removed. However, staff reserves the right to use their own discretion when considering which upload should stay or go, as there are too many variables to clearly list here.

A 1-to-1 copy of the application installation disk data shall start with a score of 0.

For each crippling feature removed, the score will be increased by 1 point. For example, DRM, online validation of serials, etc.

Removal of any feature which logs user data without consent of the user shall increase the score by 2 points.

For each feature removed which is not necessary for average use, 1 point will be deducted from the score.

Any feature removed which is considered important by the average user of the application shall cause a 2 point deduction. An example of such a feature would be help files.

Anything added to the application shall result in a 1 point deduction. This includes NFO files.

Splitting the application up into multiple RARs will increase the app's points by 1.

If an application is uploaded when the same version already exists, this scoring system will be used to judge if either should be removed. If both have a score above 0, neither will be removed. Otherwise, the lower scoring upload will be removed.Component specific uploading rules

We encourage you to submit as many articles as you want, but please don't spam us with too many drafts; be thoughtful.

We will require that you provide us with a 100-300 word excerpt or synopsis in which to include on the front-page. Although this can just be the leading paragraph of your article if you wish.

We recommend that you make your articles more exciting with links to websites on and off Waffles, images, bbcode etc... But if you don't do this in the first week you may still submit the article before the deadline and then spend the last week improving on this.

We will accept articles on anything music-related: genres, styles, periods, photo blogs/writeups of amazing shows, artists, top-10 highlights etc.

Warnings

Staff have wide discretion on how to handle users, and rule violations.

Posting about a warning or torrent deletion in the forums (whether to rally support for your cause, or to apologize to users/staff) will be considered moderator abuse, and you will get further disciplined for doing this.

If you receive a second warning () whilst the first is still active you will lose privileges or worse be banned.

Warnings () may be appealed by PMing the issuer, however only do so if you have a strong case. Staff are very busy, so unless you have a very good reason do not waste their time. PMing without a strong case, or in a manner deemed abusive may result in a second warning () and therefore a loss of privileges.

Users who flaunt that they have been warned (bragging, modifying avatar, etc) will be disabled for the duration of their warning, and will not be eligible for appeal.

Invite SystemInvites will be open sporadically, denoted in the header by red, emphasised text. Invites are not delivered instantly. Do not bother staff about undelivered invites until at least 24 hours have passed and you made sure you didn't send it to one of the domains below.Invites destined for bluebottle, tiscali.nl, hccnet.nl, telfort.nl, or comcast.net domains will never arrive due to problems on their end. Do NOT send invites to them. They will never arrive. Invites are known to work for Google Mail, Yahoo, Hush, Hotmail/Live, Verizon, Cox, Qwest, Telstra, Rogers, and Demon addresses.Regular invites are given out to power users at a random time, donors upon their first donation, and as prizes to contest winners. Also, the invite system is not always open. Indeed, most of the time it is, but when it isn't the Anytime invites come into play. These special invites are not earned in any way and can only be obtained by buying them in the Points Shop. There are 2 ways of buying an Anytime Invites: first one is to convert one regular invite into 2 anytime invites (350P) and the second one is to directly buy an anytime invite (1700P) if option avalable in the shop. Most of the Waffles inviters are pretty picky with their invites. They usually look for someone that has good ratios at hard-to-seed trackers and owns a seed box.
