What is so exciting about this class schedule is that all of these classes will be held at our new location on Roncesvalles Ave!  We will be hanging out on Queen throughout April and opening early May on Roncey. Can’t wait to see you all there!

POMPOM!
Let’s make some pompoms, they’re not just for hats anymore.  Make them into garlands or wreaths, decorate a bag or scarf, make jewelry or hair decorations, or some fluffy creatures. Come help us celebrate the opening of our new location, we will be showing y’all how to make pompoms.  Bring your Mom – it’s Mother’s Day.

Kid’s Knitting Class NEW CLASS
Just for the kids! Are you 8-12 years old and interested in learning how to knit? This is when and where it all happens.  Choose your favourite colour of yarn and learn to make a scarf or a circle scarf that you can wear or give as a gift to someone deserving. Embellish your project by adding on your second favourite colour or by making fringe or mini pompoms to attach to the end of your scarf.

Bunting for Beginners NEW CLASS
A banner of flags – that’s what “bunting” is! This joyful room decoration makes a great first knitting project.  Learn the essentials of knitting while stitching colourful triangles.  Casting on (the foundation row of knitting), the knit stitch, shaping techniques, finishing and combining the triangles on a string to form the banner are all covered in this class.

Introduction to Wet Felting IT’S BACK!
What do you get when you mix a bit of water with a wad of fluff and a little elbow grease?  Felt- that’s what! In this 2-day workshop students will be introduced to the ancient techniques of felt making.  They will design and make their own piece of felted cloth (nuno felting), a decorative bowl or vessel, a pouch (ideal for cell phones, eyeglasses etc.) and a 3D felted form.
Materials fee: $15 for felting kit.  Materials fee does not include felt fibres, which are available at the Knit Café.

Needle Point and Rug Hooking Finishing NEW CLASS
Now that you have finished hooking your piece or completed your needlepoint, what do you do with it?  This class will teach you how to finish your work so it may be used as a matt, pillow or wall hanging. You will learn how to bind your edges, back your piece for hanging, prepare your work for framing or sewing, and how to make a pillow case.

Embroidery Workshop NEW CLASS
No textile arts education would be complete without some embroidery.  If you want to monogram, embellish, and beautify your textile belongings, there is no better way than some skillfully placed stitches.  Whether you wish to embroider on cloth or on knit goods this workshop will teach you fundamental decorative stitches including French knots, satin stitch and running stitch.  A discussion of materials and how to transfer a design onto a piece of cloth will be covered too.

Natural Dye Class NEW CLASS
Nature has a way with colour! Learn to harness this talent and capture it in your yarn.  Imagine what it would be like to knit with yarn you had dyed yourself using bits and bobs collected from the great outdoors.  For our first Natural Dying Class we hope to capture some of the spring and summer colours using food and spices to make our dyes. Learn the secrets to making dyes and prepping yarn for dying so that the colours will last. Chemistry, botany, and artistry unite in this class!

Fingerless Mitten Class NEW CLASS
This is a great accessory to have on hand for those in between months – the Spring and the Fall. It’s also a suitable knitting project for learning a thing or two. In this class students will learn how to knit in circles employing the “magic loop method”.  If you are an experienced knitter who is curious about this “magic” technique or if you’re a beginner who wants to try your first circular project this class will suit you fine. Bonus learning – shaping with increases and pattern reading too!

Knit Slipper Workshop NEW CLASS
Knit Slippers are warm and comfortable, easy to travel with, and easy to wash if you make them with superwash wool. Our original slipper pattern is easy and quick to make if you are familiar with knitting in rounds.  If you need some help with this, come join us in the Slipper Workshop, where knitting in circles on double pointedneedles is the order of the day. Ending up with sweet slippers is the bonus!

Sweater Class NEW CLASS
Is it time to make your first sweater? Come make one with us! This crew neck, raglan sleeved, pullover or cardigan is sized for everyone you know, from tiny baby to man about town, and any lady size in between. This is a step by step class emphasizing detailed pattern reading, basic sweater construction and shaping skills, and every knitter’s essential – the gauge swatch.
4 sessions, $100, materials not included
Materials: worsted weight yarn in enough quantity to make your preferred sweater size, plus an extra ball, 4mm dpn, 5mm dpn, 40cm, 60cm, 80cm (length of circular needle depends on size of sweater.  Size of needle may vary to suit gauge. The size can be swapped in class if needles are purchased at the Knit Café.

Stylish Bandana and Introduction to Short Row Shaping NEW CLASS
This neck warmer is a hybrid of a cowl and a triangular shaped scarf.  The results as aforementioned are very dapper. It’s also a wonderful project to try out some essential knit shaping techniques.  The bandana is knit in one piece in rounds with several different decreases and short row shaping too. What the heck are short rows? Come to class and find out!

Shell Motif Crochet Blanket NEW CLASS
It’s a brand new season and time for a brand new crochet blanket pattern!  This one, like all great crochet blanket patterns combines design with texture and colour. The pattern is more advanced than the pattern we work in our Beginner Crochet Blanket Class which makes the Shell Blanket a good follow up to this class or to our Crochet 101 class.  Students can expect to hone their pattern reading skills, and practice alternating yarn colours, while learning the scalloped stitching that makes up this blanket.
