Still asking yourself “why ULI?” The answer is ULI Toronto’s diverse membership. Planners, land developers, architects, engineers and many other professionals representing all spectrums of the industry come together many times every month for both small, intimate gatherings and galas with hundreds of attendees.

On April 7th, ULI Toronto welcomed 21 municipal and provincial planners from across Southern Ontario for the inaugural Meet The Chiefs dinner and panel discussion. Toronto Chief Planner Jennifer Keesmaat and Metrolinx Chief Planning Officer Leslie Woo were just two of the high profile individuals who took questions from an audience of more than 250.

On the morning of May 12th, a crowd of 30 professionals gathered for a members-only event presented by Stantec, a world-renowned consultancy focused on planning, engineering, architecture and more. Attendees heard about Stantec’s efforts in city building and its unique view of the evolving city.

With over 34,000 members across 55 district councils in the U.S. and Canada and 18 national councils in Europe and Asia, ULI has a truly global presence.

This international perspective is apparent even at ULI Toronto events focused on important local planning and land use issues.

On May 4th, Normand Boivin, the COO of Heathrow Airport Ltd., and Thomas Bosco, Aviation Director at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, joined GTAA President and CEO Howard Eng at the Toronto Region Board of Trade to discuss challenges and opportunities as Toronto Pearson international Airport approaches capacity.

In a global city that’s growing at such an incredible pace, these international perspectives are invaluable. It’s events like these that demonstrate why ULI is at the forefront of land use issues and stewardship. This is what you become a part of as a member of ULI Toronto.

This is #WhyULI.
