The gurudwara serves langar (community kitchen) to all the devotees free of cost. At the langar, food is served to all visitors regardless of faith or background. The devotees pay their offerings by serving in this kitchen.

One of the highlights of the gurudwara is the way the langar is cooked. It has an automatic roti making machine which delivers 3000 rotis in one hour. Almost all the food is cooked on a vaporised stove – meaning no problems related to gas or wood. There is also a lift facility to take up food in two floors.

Most of the staff is made up of volunteers (known as sewadars) that can help out for as long as they like. Volunteers can assist with food preparation such as peeling vegetables. Once the food is prepared, it is placed into smaller containers so volunteers can carry around the dining hall and serve.

Everyone, regardless of faith and background is allowed in the dining hall. Women, men and children all sit together. A traditional meal of lentils, rice, vegetables and roti is served.

The 350th Prakash Parv (also Prakash Utsav) or birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh ji, will be celebrated in January 2017. Anticipating heavy influx of pilgrims from across the country and abroad, the state government has undertaken various schemes for strengthening the basic infrastructure.

During Prakash Parv, around 5000 Sikh devotees will take part in serving the langar and various other work. During Prakash Parv, everyday 1.5 tonne of atta, 9 quintal of milk, 1200 kilos of vegetables, and 100 tonnes of ghee, will be used.
