Yet again, Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of Vishva Hindu Parishad, is all set to disrupt Valentine Day celebrations.
This time, they will celebrate V-Day as ‘Balidan saptah’, in memory of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
Bajrang Dal national president Rajesh Pandey said:
“We won’t put any restrictions on couples but would launch the balidaan saptah celebrations across the country to wean away youngsters from the Western influence.”
Often referring to V-Day as western culture, Pandey said, “Our youth must be nationalist rather than blindly following foreign culture.”

In line with their agenda, last year Chattishgrah government renamed February 14 as ‘Matru-Pitru Diwas.’
However, activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have threatened to marry courting couples in Arya samaj mandirs.
VHP’s Ajju Chauhan said, “We will take all such couple to the nearest Arya Samaj mandir and get them married,” he said. Also, the group has already made arrangements to conduct such marriages.
Well, that’s won’t be a first time as last year two couples were married off in Andhra Pradesh.

But, couples seems to be undeterred. A young couple said that though they feel uncomfortable after such threats, they will still celebrate the festival of love.
Mridula Bawai, the owner of Hallmark Anugraha, said, “Celebrations would start from Sunday, the Rose Day, and we are stocking gifts for each and every day.” She added that business grows around this time every year.
