We have compared and reviewed many cars in our past starting from Luxury premium sedans to supercars and even small hatchbacks. Today we will be comparing two of the most basic entry level hatchbacks that are available in the Indian market. The two competitors here are the entry level car from two of the leading Indian manufacturers Tata and Maruti from the stable of Tata we have the Nano who was able to shed the worlds cheapest car image and compete with the entry level hatchbacks of the Country, whereas its rival is the entry level offering from Maruti the Alto800. Both of these small hatchback cars are ideal first car for many Indian families and who mostly use their vehicles for city usage and expect that they would perform like commuter vehicles. Previously people had only few options in this entry level segment but now they have plenty of choices to choose from, all the credit goes to the Automobile manufacturers who are trying to provide maximum to the buyers.

Both the hatchbacks are powered by not so powerful engine, they are only meant for city uses and occasional weekend trips. The Alto800 has slightly more powerful engine than the Nano under the hood, it is powered by a 3cylinder inline 796cc engine which generates about 48bhp of maximum power and 69 nm of torque. The Tata Nano has the smallest engine that you will find in an Indian car, it is powered by a 624cc engine which generates around 38bhp of maximum power and 51nm of torque. Let’s find out which car can be a perfect first car for your small family.
